- Develops a product strategy and product vision that delivers value to customers
- Manages discovery efforts and market research to uncover customer solutions and integrate them into the product roadmap
- Owns, maintains, and develops a product backlog that enables development to support the overall strategic roadmap and value proposition
- Builds the framework and tracks the product's key success metrics such as cost, feature and functionality, risk posture, and reliability
- Leads an API portfolio end-to-end, including roadmap planning, prioritization, and stakeholder alignment across lines of business and shared services.
- Defines and evolves API product standards (design, versioning, documentation, deprecation, and backward compatibility) to improve reuse and reduce fragmentation.
- Partners with engineering and architecture to ensure platform capabilities meet non-functional requirements including resiliency, latency, scalability, and observability.
- Drives API onboarding and adoption by improving developer experience through self-service patterns, clear documentation, and consistent support models.
- Establishes and governs operating rhythms (OKRs, release readiness, incident learning, and dependency management) to improve delivery predictability and service health.
- Collaborates with controls, cybersecurity, privacy, and data governance teams to ensure compliant access patterns, entitlements, and auditability for Statements of Record connectivity.
- Manages lifecycle health for existing APIs, including modernization, risk remediation, platform migrations, and cost optimization.
- 5+ years of experience or equivalent expertise in product management or a relevant domain area
- Advanced knowledge of the product development life cycle, design, and data analytics
- Proven ability to lead product life cycle activities including discovery, ideation, strategic development, requirements definition, and value management
- Strong understanding of API products and platform fundamentals, including REST/JSON, event-driven patterns, authentication/authorization, and service-level objectives.
- Experience translating complex stakeholder needs into clear product requirements, roadmaps, and measurable outcomes in a large enterprise environment.
- Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with engineering, architecture, and operations teams to deliver resilient, production-grade services.
- Working knowledge of operational excellence practices including incident management, problem management, and continuous improvement via post-incident learnings.
- Ability to define and track metrics such as adoption, latency, availability, error rates, onboarding time, and cost-to-serve to guide prioritization and investment decisions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence decision-making across senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Experience managing dependencies across multiple teams and delivering through ambiguity with a structured, outcomes-driven approach.
- Demonstrated prior experience working in a highly matrixed, complex organization
- Experience with API management and developer enablement capabilities such as catalogs/portals, API gateways, throttling, and consumption analytics.
- Familiarity with data lineage, data governance, and stewardship concepts as they relate to Statements of Record and controlled distribution.
- Exposure to resiliency engineering concepts (e.g., graceful degradation, circuit breaking, active-active patterns) and how they translate into platform requirements.
- Knowledge of security patterns for APIs and the product decisions that enable secure-by-default integrations.
