Head of Communications Executive Director, Chase Auto

Chase Auto is seeking a Executive Director of External Communications to support communications across Chase Auto’s strategic business units, including Private Label Captive Finance, Retail and Consumer, and Commercial Solutions, with a particular emphasis on advancing the reputation and visibility of the Retail and Consumer and Commercial Solutions.

As a Head of Communications Executive Director, Chase Auto within Consumer and Community Banking, you will report to the Chief Communications Officer for Auto and Operations, this leader will oversee internal, executive, and external communications and manage a team of five communicators. In addition, you will operate with strong judgment, executive presence, and have a proactive mindset, translating complex business priorities into clear, compelling communications that strengthen reputation, lead employee engagement, and position Chase Auto as an industry leader.

Job responsibilities

  • Lead internal, executive and external communications for Chase’s Auto business
  • Develop and execute an integrated communications strategy that advances business priorities, supports growth, and reinforces Chase Auto’s leadership in the marketplace.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Chase Auto CEO and senior leadership team, providing strategic counsel on executive positioning, organizational messaging, and high-impact communications.
  • Lead executive communications, including speeches, town halls, leadership forums, employee engagement initiatives, and thought leadership opportunities.
  • Oversee external communications and media relations, proactively shaping the narrative while managing reputational risk and emerging issues with sound judgment and urgency.
  • Lead internal communications that inform, inspire, and align employees to the business strategy, culture, and performance objectives.
  • Protect and enhance the firm’s reputation by partnering closely with Legal, Compliance, Risk, and other partners to ensure accurate, well-governed, and coordinated messaging.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of five communicators, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and operational excellence.
  • Partner with communications teams across Consumer & Community Banking and the firm to ensure consistency of messaging and alignment with enterprise priorities.
  • Translate complex financial and operational concepts into accessible, compelling narratives for employees, media, dealers, customers, and key stakeholders.
  • Oversee agency relationships, campaign execution, and measurement frameworks to evaluate effectiveness and continuously enhance communications impact.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • 10+ years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, or related disciplines, including demonstrated leadership responsibility.
  • Proven ability to design and implement strategic communications programs that support business objectives and enhance reputation.
  • Extensive experience advising senior executives and operating effectively within complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with the executive presence needed to influence and counsel senior stakeholders.
  • Strong people leadership skills with a track record of building, developing, and retaining high-performing teams.
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making capabilities, particularly in fast-moving or high-profile situations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and delivering high-quality outcomes.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and accountability.
