The Banking Payments team enables secure, seamless payment experiences across Zelle, Wires, Cross-border, ACH, Transfers, Bill Pay, Quick Deposit, and Real-time Payments for tens of millions of Chase Consumer and Small Business clients.

As a Vice President in Banking Payments you will shape the multi-year strategy for Chase’s account-based payments portfolio and drive high-impact, project-based work across the organization. You will partner closely across the “Quad” (Product, Technology, Data & Analytics, Design) and with Finance, Risk, Legal, and Operations to deliver strategies that improve customer experience, platform modernization, and product outcomes.

Job responsibilities

  • Own and drive strategic workstreams across the Banking Payments portfolio – diagnose problems, build options, align stakeholders, and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Develop BP-wide product strategy and strategic narratives for senior leadership: define the “so what,” trade-offs, and path to value realization.
  • Lead cross-functional modernization strategy efforts in partnership with Product and Technology (platform capabilities, sequencing, dependencies, and risks).
  • Run market + product assessments on priority domains (e.g., evolution of wires, real-time payments adoption, customer needs and competitor positioning) to inform product direction and investment decisions.
  • Scale data-driven decisioning in product strategy: define the key questions, partner with D&A to instrument/measure, and translate insights into product actions and business cases.
  • Influence through outcomes, not org chart – drive alignment across Product, D&A, Technology, Operations, Finance, Legal, and Risk; communicate progress, risks, and decisions crisply.
  • Coach and/or manage junior talent on the Strategy team (directly or indirectly), raising the bar on structured thinking and executive-ready outputs.

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • 7+ years in strategy, management consulting, product management, or similar roles delivering cross-functional outcomes.
  • Strong analytical horsepower and ability to make fact-based recommendations with a clear story and POV.
  • Excellent executive communication: create high-impact decks, narratives, and leadership updates.
  • Proven ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment, manage dependencies, and drive escalations/decisions.
  • Experience in financial services, banking, or payments.
  • Sound judgment, integrity, and a strong risk-and-control mindset.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Direct experience with account-based payments or payment networks (card or non-card), including rails such as ACH, wires, RTP/real-time payments, transfers, bill pay.
  • Experience leading multi-stakeholder strategy efforts across Product, Tech, and Data organizations.
