As an Executive Director, Head of North America Capital Risk Coverage in Capital Risk Management, you lead independent oversight of the firm’s capital risk across North America. You set direction for capital risk assessment, limits, and governance while partnering closely with senior stakeholders to ensure strong capital resiliency and regulatory compliance. You guide a high-performing team, drive insight into complex capital topics, and influence firmwide capital decisions through independent challenge. Together, we strengthen capital risk management by balancing analytical rigor, sound judgement, and clear communication.

Job responsibilities

  • Lead the independent assessment, measurement, monitoring, and control of capital risk across North America
  • Establish, calibrate, and oversee capital risk limits and key indicators, including investigation and reporting of limit breaches
  • Independently assess firmwide capital management activities, including internal capital targets, stress outcomes, and capital allocation
  • Provide independent capital risk coverage for the firm, bank, United States broker-dealer, and designated international legal entities
  • Conduct deep-dive analyses on capital-related topics, including regulatory developments, balance sheet dynamics, and risk profile changes
  • Present capital risk insights, metrics, and emerging risks to senior management and risk committees
  • Lead governance and independent review of credit risk transfer activities, including control design and limit calibration
  • Participate in annual supervisory and internal stress testing, including scenario review, overlays, and capital plan challenge
  • Review risk appetite metrics and thematic stress test results, performing attribution analysis and impact assessment
  • Oversee integration and annual review of contingency capital planning with firmwide capital limits and indicators
  • Engage with regulators, internal partners, and supervisors during ongoing monitoring, exams, and quarterly updates

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in capital risk, risk management, finance, or regulatory-related functions
  • Minimum 5 years of people management and leadership experience
  • Deep knowledge of regulatory capital frameworks and capital management concepts
  • Proven experience independently assessing capital risk and capital planning activities
  • Experience supporting or participating in supervisory or internal stress testing exercises
  • Strong ability to communicate complex capital topics to senior stakeholders and committees
  • Demonstrated experience partnering across risk, finance, treasury, and control functions
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative information
  • Experience engaging with regulatory agencies and supporting regulatory examinations

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Advanced degree or professional certification such as Chartered Financial Analyst or Financial Risk Manager
  • Experience across multiple risk disciplines, including capital, market, or credit risk
  • Experience overseeing legal entity capital frameworks across domestic and international entities
  • Strong proficiency in capital analytics and reporting tools
  • Experience driving process improvement, automation, or advanced analytics initiatives
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence-enabled risk analytics
  • Experience working in large, complex global financial institutions
