As a Senior Principal Architect at JPMorganChase within Corporate Technology’s Enterprise Architecture function, you are an integral part of a team that works to develop high-quality architecture solutions for various software applications and platform products. You drive significant business impact and help shape the target state architecture through your capabilities in multiple architecture domains. You will help shape, guide, and advance the firm’s technology strategy and target state architecture, operating across domains to influence architectural direction, drive adoption of standards, and enable consistent, scalable, and secure technology solutions across the enterprise. You will provide strategic expertise to define and evolve architecture capabilities, working across lines of business and technology teams to build alignment and consensus. You will advise on technology strategies, architectures, and roadmaps to ensure solutions are aligned to business priorities, resilient by design, and capable of scaling across the organization. You will support the operationalization of enterprise architecture by driving standards, enabling reuse, and promoting effective ways of working across architecture and engineering teams.
Job responsibilities:
- Advise and influence executives, stakeholders, and portfolio leaders on enterprise architecture strategy and long-term technology direction
- Lead and contribute to architecture governance forums, including architecture review boards, to guide decision-making and drive consistency
- Translate complex technical topics into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Develop and maintain enterprise architecture strategies, reference architectures, and roadmaps
- Establish and promote architecture standards, patterns, and best practices, ensuring governance compliance
- Drive alignment across architecture disciplines (business, data, application, and technology)
- Identify opportunities for simplification, modernization, and optimization across the technology landscape
- Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending their application to business outcomes
- Assess technology risks and define mitigation strategies to ensure resilience and continuity
- Mentor architects and foster a collaborative, outcome-focused architecture community
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 15+ years applied experience
- Demonstrated experience defining and driving enterprise architecture strategies in large, complex organizations
- Strong understanding across multiple architecture domains (business, data, application, and technology)
- Proven ability to influence and drive change across diverse stakeholders and architecture disciplines
- Experience developing and governing architecture standards, reference models, and roadmaps
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate and apply emerging technologies to support business outcomes
- Strong communication skills, including presenting to executive and non-technical audiences
- Experience embedding risk, control, and compliance considerations into architecture practices
- Proven experience enabling large-scale platforms or shared technology capabilities
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Experience operating within formal architecture governance frameworks (e.g., TOGAF or equivalent)
- Broad exposure to modern technology paradigms, including cloud, distributed systems, and platform-based architectures
- Experience with automation, engineering practices, or software development
- Relevant certifications (e.g., TOGAF, cloud architecture certifications, ITIL, CISSP, PMP)
- Track record of driving enterprise-wide initiatives that improve technology consistency, reuse, and efficiency
- Experience working in regulated environments with strong risk and compliance requirements
