Who You Are
The Licensing Operations team plays a vital role in enabling Justworks to operate as a Professional Employer Organization (PEO) across all jurisdictions. As Manager, Licensing Operations, you will lead the team responsible for securing and maintaining the licenses, certifications, and accreditations that allow us to support our customers and uphold our credentials. You will oversee a team responsible for the timely and accurate collection of customer data and sensitive business information, ensuring successful submission to vendors and state agencies for licensing and regulatory compliance. This role sits at the intersection of regulatory compliance and operational execution. It involves translating complex regulatory requirements into clear processes, controls, and systems that ensure compliance at scale. Success requires both a strong understanding of compliance requirements and the ability to operationalize them efficiently across teams and tools.

Your Success Profile
What You Will Work On
- Manage a team of coordinators and analysts who are responsible for the day-to-day administration of licensing and regulatory requirements
- Drive timely and accurate execution of licensing, registration, and certification activities across all applicable states and jurisdictions
- Design and scale repeatable systems for collecting and submitting sensitive customer and business data in support of regulatory compliance
- Recruit, onboard, and coach team members to deepen both technical skills and operational understanding
- Proactively identify operational risks and pain points, design remediation plans, and implement sustainable process improvement with scaling in mind
- Own and continuously evolve the team’s documentation to ensure clear, accurate, and accessible process knowledge
- Partner with Legal and Compliance to interpret regulatory requirements, mitigate risk, and ensure submission accuracy
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering to address system gaps, deploy fixes, and drive automation and efficiency
- Perform other related duties as needed to support the team and broader operations

Qualifications
- 3 years in a people management or team lead role
- 5 years of experience in operations or compliance
- Proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong project management and execution capabilities
- SQL proficiency (highly preferred)
- Demonstrated success in process improvement and leveraging technology to drive efficiency
- Experience operating in a regulated environment, with the ability to balance compliance obligations and operational efficiency
The base wage range for this position based in our New York City Office is targeted at $109,000.00 to $119,900.00 per year.

Actual compensation is based on multiple factors that are unique to each candidate, including and not limited to skill set, level of relevant experience, and specific work location. Salary ranges for positions based in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location.
