Team Overview

Our Research & Development (R&D) team is the technical talent at the heart of our product suite, overseeing the product development lifecycle from concept to delivery. From engineering to quality assurance to data science, the R&D team ensures our customers seamlessly use our products and can depend on their consistency.

Responsibilities

The Software Engineering team is a group of full stack developers who design, develop, and maintain our products, tools, and infrastructure.

As a Lead Software Engineer, your day-to-day job will consist of:

  • Develop code to bring the product team's vision to life
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to ensure changes meet expectations
  • Participate in the review and collaboration of pull requests
  • Troubleshoot runtime issues
  • Continually enhance the team's practices and knowledge
  • Provide guidance and support to other developers
  • Establish goals and objectives for the team that aligns with the overall roadmap and delivery schedules
  • Works to increase team efficiency and effectiveness in order to achieve long term goals
  • Performs any HR related tasks
  • Work within a wide range of new and legacy code and technologies in a mature codebase
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or 5+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrable Elixir/Phoenix Liveview work in a professional environment
  • Strong grasp of the principles of functional program
  • Understanding of the principles of education finance
  • Proficient in SQL, particularly PostgreSQL's dialect
  • Ability to mentor and coach peers
  • Strong ability to work across teams and products to connect existing services, rapidly delivering new customer experiences and generating delight
  • Ability and willingness to work in a changing, dynamic environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiar with OWASP threats and mitigation techniques
  • Familiar with Education Finance process and terminology and concepts
