The Role

Start Date: Flexible, ideally Fall 2025
Compensation: expected base salary range of $140,000 - 160,000 per year
We’re hiring a sharp, independent, and resourceful Associate or Senior Associate to join our investment team in New York. This is an investor-track role on the path toward Vice President and Principal. You will be involved in every aspect of the venture investment process — with a heavy emphasis on deal sourcing, company evaluation, and investment execution.
This is not an apprenticeship. We’re looking for someone who already has strong instincts, an existing and growing network, and the judgment to identify exceptional founders and technologies before others do. You’ll have the autonomy to bring in deals and make things happen from Day 1 — and the support of a high-performance team to go even further.
This isn't a one-dimensional role; we're seeking someone who can operate effectively in the space between a large, specialized investment platform and an emerging manager. You'll gain broad exposure to all aspects of the firm, from sourcing and deal execution to firm-building and strategy. We're a growing firm with an established foundation, and this role offers the chance to contribute meaningfully across the entire organization.
Key Responsibilities
Deal Sourcing & Market Engagement
Own your own outbound and inbound sourcing pipelines — we expect you to bring in and close deals.
Leverage and grow your own network of founders, investors, and operators to find high-quality investment opportunities in early-stage companies.
Identify whitespace opportunities and develop proprietary theses.
Represent MetaProp at events and within founder/investor communities.
Host your own events to cultivate the MetaProp network and brand.
Due Diligence & Execution
Lead diligence processes — from business model analysis and competitor mapping to customer interviews and cap table modeling.
Write crisp, persuasive investment memos and present recommendations to IC.
Work cross-functionally with GPs and legal counsel to shepherd deals to close.
Create and explore investment theses, track industry trends, and own coverage of relevant markets.
Portfolio & Firm Building
Support portfolio companies post-investment (as needed), including strategic projects, introductions, and performance tracking.
Help refine internal investment workflows, and tools, particularly using AI and automation
Contribute to thought leadership, thesis development, analytical frameworks, and market maps in key areas of interest (e.g., AI, data infra, vertical SaaS, energy, etc.).
Contribute to fund operations and administration, fund modeling, LP reporting, and pipeline management.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Minimum Qualifications
4-6+ years of experience in venture capital, early-stage investing, or founder/operator roles.
Demonstrated ability to independently source, evaluate, and champion early-stage investments.
A growing network of founders, investors, and ecosystem partners that you actively engage.
Strong verbal and written communication skills — you can build conviction and communicate clearly.
Analytical fluency: comfortable with business models, cap tables, unit economics, and market sizing.
Unafraid to form — and defend — your own point of view.
Bonus Points
Background in a VC-backed startup, tech banking, consulting, or growth equity.
Deep interest or expertise in technology / startup categories relevant to MetaProp’s investment focus (PropTech, ConTech, FinTech, InsurTech, Climate, Infra, AI/ML, Robotics, etc..).
Experience navigating ambiguous situations and driving independent workstreams to completion.
- High comfort level with data tools, market research platforms, and investment workflows.
