We are looking to hire a Principal Software Engineer - Security Architect to oversee system design, security defenses and software engineering development for identity systems within the enterprise and the Microsoft cloud. The mission of the team is to enable Microsoft to build the most trusted devices and services, while keeping our company safe and our data protected. As part of the Microsoft Security organization, and a steward of Microsoft and our customer's data, a core function of our team is ensuring the security of every aspect of the business. We are responsible for company-wide information security and compliance, with a strategic focus on information protection, assessment, awareness, governance, and enterprise business continuity.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years participating in the architecture of a significant portion of one of the following 5 clouds - AWS, Azure, GCP, Meta or Oracle Cloud.
  • 3+ years experience in a role whose primary responsibility is writing code

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of cyber-security experience

Software Engineering IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $161,600 - $286,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $209,600 - $314,400 per year. Responsibilities

  • Partner with engineering teams to understand and improve the security posture of many systems related to Identity
  • Collaborate with teams to bring to fruition cross-company security initiatives
  • Assist engineering teams in resolving difficult technical problems
  • Provide vision and thought leadership for state-of-the-art security of the Microsoft estate
  • When needed, engage hands-on with the building, operations and security of services, systems and applications.
