The main goal of Microsoft Technical Specialists (TSs) is to win the technical decision of customers to purchase and use our technology - with the Intelligence TS focusing on Power BI products & services. TSs are expected to be able to both own and win customers’ technical decisions, as well as find new opportunities through their contacts and engagements for sales specialists to further pursue. As a TS, you work within a virtual team of technical, partner and consulting resources to help educate your customers at a technical level, demonstrate and prove our solutions, and win the technical decision, allowing the team to achieve/exceed quarterly Microsoft 365 and Power BI sales/usage targets in your accounts. Being part of this team will allow you to maintain and develop your deep technical expertise across Microsoft and non-Microsoft cloud-based infrastructure technologies.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications (RQs/MQs)

  • 5+ years of technology-related sales or account management experience

OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field AND 4+ years of technology-related sales or account management experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications (PQs)

  • 7+ years of technology-related sales or account management experience.
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, or related field AND 6+ years of technology-related sales or account management experience
    • OR Master's Degree in Business Administration (i.e., MBA), Information Technology, or related field AND 3+ years of technology-related sales or account management experience.
  • 4+ years of solution or services sales experience.

Responsibilities

  • You are skilled in delivering demonstrations (e.g., Architectural Design Sessions, and Proof of Concept sessions) of Power BI products, services, and integration; presenting and applying architecture patterns for design, development, configuration, and deployment/adoption/governance planning of solutions based on Power BI; applying sales methodologies (e.g., Challenger sales); leveraging partner/customer teams in solution design & proof.​
  • You know how to build strategy for Power BI, leveraging knowledge of partners, open-source solutions, and competitors in the business intelligence and data visualization space; using knowledge of customer feedback, specific Microsoft business intelligence solutions, and their context in a competitive landscape; capturing and transferring core competitive knowledge to product and engineering teams.​
  • You will use your knowledge of customer context; expertise in business intelligence solutions & architectures and data-driven decision-making; knowledge of enterprise-level business analytics, including data modeling, report and dashboard creation, data security, governance and compliance; and other technical and industry knowledge. Leading technical discussions with customers and establishing rules of engagement (e.g., role boundaries, handoff strategies) for extended teams, leveraging knowledge of processes (e.g., Managed Service Provider, Managed Certified Professional), tools, and programs (e.g., FastTrack, customer investment funding).
  • You will leverage foundational knowledge of resources (e.g., roles, Microsoft Technology Center, demo sites, virtual sites); conveying blocker impact to product teams.​ Proactively identifying learning gaps; monitoring & responding to internal tech community posts, attending community calls, sessions, hackathons, etc.; practicing expertise by communicating with customers, partners, and senior colleagues to expand knowledge of architecture.​
  • You will scale through partners, acting as liaison between the partner and team and facilitating partner resources and processes; supporting partner technical capacity by identifying Power BI & business intelligence skill and resource gaps and providing feedback to internal teams (e.g., One Commercial Partner).

•Prove business value with POCs & trials, prove customer ability to execute with deployment and governance-focused briefings & workshops
•Initiate deployment planning and attach appropriate deployment resources from Partners and/or Services
•Lead Power BI & Fabric use case ideation and expansion, identify opportunities with existing customer contacts, and support opportunity qualification
•Leverage cross solution area programs and offers from Modern Work and Data and AI to accelerate sales of Power BI & Fabric
