Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled and visionary Senior Product Designer to play a key role in shaping the future of MSN. The ideal candidate will possess strong visual and UX design skills, and have extensive experience working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including product managers, engineers, researchers, and other designers. As a Senior Product Designer, you will craft the direction of Microsoft's future interactions with technology across a variety of growth initiatives. You will work closely with a dynamic, cross-disciplinary team, setting a strategic design direction that combines cutting-edge AI, software development, and business objectives. This is an exciting opportunity to influence the engagement of next-generation products at Microsoft, all the while delivering intuitive, inclusive, and accessible user experiences.

The Microsoft AI Design & Research team is a creative community of designers, researchers, and writers on a mission to create and deliver holistic customer experiences while imagining future web technologies, from Copilot, Edge, Bing, MSN and apps. Our collaborative team comes together from diverse backgrounds and delivers end-to-end web experiences from shopping, to search, to ads, news, sports, gaming and more, into seamless experiences that create delight for billions of customers worldwide.

While our preferred location for this position is Redmond, WA, we are open to candidates based anywhere in the United States.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 5+ years experience working in product or service design
    • OR Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 4+ years experience working in product or service design
    • OR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience working in Product or Service design
  • Extensive experience in Graphic Design
  • Demonstrated sense of Interaction Design attuned to the fundamentals of user experience
  • Extensive experience in accessibility and inclusive design
  • Strong Visual Design skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation / storytelling skills, with the ability to energize teams and advocate for your ideas
  • Experience designing and prototyping in Figma

Product Design IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.

Responsibilities


Cross-Functional Collaboration: Facilitate effective collaboration with creative team members, program managers, developers, and executive stakeholders to define, iterate, and implement new and existing product features, ensuring alignment with business, technical, and user requirements.


Design System Knowledge: Act as the Design System authority by overseeing the adoption and consistency of design standards across multiple teams, including the design systems team, evaluating industry updates, and advocating for the acquisition or enhancement of design systems to maintain high-quality craftsmanship.


Design Excellence: Understand the behaviors, motivations, and needs of our customers to develop and deliver relevant and impactful experiences.
Strategic Product Design & Prototyping: Present design concepts and decisions to cross functional partners and stakeholders, articulating design rationale clearly and effectively.


Compelling Communication & Storytelling: Present design concepts and decisions to cross functional partners and stakeholders, articulating design rationale clearly and effectively.


Mentorship: Foster a culture of creativity and innovation through mentorship and collaboration with other designers.
