Overview

Microsoft Windows Silicon & Systems Integration team (WSSI) is on a journey to deliver iconic end-to-end products across hardware, software, and services that people love and use every day. A fundamental element of our strategy is building desirable and powerful devices that enable the experiences people want. Creating these new experiences and devices involves close partnership between hardware engineers, software engineers, designers, and manufacturing along with the various industry partners that closely collaborate to create industry defining firsts.

We are seeking a talented Software Engineering Manager to lead and drive software/firmware development, integration and validation efforts for the next generation of products. They will lead a team of engineers responsible for analysis, debug, design and implement effective and scalable solutions. Qualified candidates should have strong engineering development and technical leadership experience. They should have worked on consumer product development and have experience with releasing products to market. Job responsibilities will also require a strong technical focus on system software design and development, working with various levels of software and firmware developers and management, interacting across disciplines as well as working with external partners to deliver high quality products.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science OR related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, C/C++
  • 3+ years of experience in engineering management role.
  • Excellent C/C++ design, coding, and debugging skills.
  • Track-record of shipping high volume consumer products and having been through at least two development cycles.
  • Ability to quickly ramp-up on complex and unfamiliar code.

Other Requirements

Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements that are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Provide technical leadership and build talent to ensure the overall health of the team by developing and mentoring team members while helping them grow both technically and professionally.
  • Experience dealing with geographically diverse teams.
  • Responsible for collaboration with partners across organizational boundaries.
  • Responsible for driving/contributing to product milestones and reviews.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across multiple disciplines and functions (PM, Test, Hardware etc.).
  • Understanding of SoC architectures, embedded firmware, Windows/Linux OS internals, multimedia domain (Audio/Video/Camera/Graphics), server and client components, end-to-end system testing.
  • Understanding of device drivers and kernel programming.
  • Enthusiastic, motivated and self-driven
