Overview
The Azure Computer Architecture team is seeking a Senior Computer Architect to join their data center architecture analysis team. This role involves creating trade-offs for architectural features among TCO (Total Cost of Ownership), Power, Area, Performance, and Sustainability metrics to shape the future of Azure Compute architectures. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of workloads, and CPU SoC, server platform and datacenter architecture. Additionally, the role requires building internal tools, scripts, and analysis methods to carry out robust and automated analysis. This position offers the opportunity to significantly impact the design and efficiency of Azure's data center infrastructure.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications

7+ years of technical engineering experience
OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years of technical engineering experience
OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years of technical engineering experience
OR Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in architecture, microarchitecture compute systems and workload analysis.
Other Requirements
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
- This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred/Additional Qualifications:
- Ph.D in Computer Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
- B.S/M.S. in Computer Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Expertise in Total Cost of Ownership modelling.
- Expertise in performance modelling.
- Expertise in power modelling.
- Expertise in sustainability modelling.
Hardware Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
