Overview

Microsoft’s Cloud Infrastructure and Operations (MCIO) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a Regional PM - Ops Environment/Sustainability, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive and the Microsoft Azure platform.

Our infrastructure is comprised of a large global portfolio of more than 200 datacenters in 32 countries and millions of servers. Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Desire and possibility to come independently and work twice a week either from Gavle or Malmo's Datacenter.
  • The job requires travel to our data centers in the 5%-25% travel around Nordic countries to cover future expansion (Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in Sustainable Energy engineering Sustainable Energy or environmental engineering) AND proven experience of mission-critical service management (e.g., providing IT services, manufacturing, warehouse, retail, military Data Center experience - energy, sustainability, environmental engineering and management), or ESG/sustainability projects in a critical environment.
  • Proven experience in project management.

Background Check Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

While not required, we also look for the following

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Enterprise-level experience managing large scale and complex projects/programs and experience in working with and interpreting ESG regulations, circular economy, sustainability programs, environmental management programs, experience with construction of DC’s and standards (ISO 50001, ISO14001 etc)
  • ESG/Energy Sustainability/Energy Engineering associated Masters.
  • Experience leading diverse, technical workforce or managing global and virtual teams.
  • Applicable certifications: PMP
  • Experience working on large scale projects

Responsibilities

    • Empower a culture of safety, security, and compliance in all aspects of our Datacenter operations.
    • Represent a regional ESG agenda and directly implement ESG strategy in agreement with the regional lead.
    • Actively draft and roll out local Sustainability related best practices, procedures and protocols based on the project runbook and in agreement with the program regional lead.
    • Actively lead the implementation of environmental and energy management systems.
    • Actively lead implementation of relevant (e.g. agreed regionally) ISO standard programs.
    • Make forecast, refrecast submissions to fund local sustainability initiatives.
    • Onboard new vendors.
    • Manage local vendors, auditors and other suppliers related to execution of ESG projects.
    • Help organise 3rd party audits.
    • Attend and actively participate in audits.
    • Review audits with auditors and provide constructive feedback.
    • Collaborate with CBRE regarding Zero Waste and sustainability initiatives.
    • Manage and lead implementation and progression of Zero Waste Program at your location.
    • Participate actively in local sustainability committees.
    • Act as an SME in driving sustainability excellence at your location to empower MSFT employees.
    • Support sites with CoC registration and auditing.
    • Provide all required reporting in line with reporting cadence.
    • Provide site specific sustainability training.
    • Create a local newsletter to share updates and knowledge regarding ESG performance.
    • Create, own, and utilise a local SharePoint, Database for purposes of collecting data and reporting ESG data.
    • Critically evaluate data and provide feedback. Be able to identify gaps in data and in methods.
    • Own and drive employee engagement initiatives to promote sustainability at your sites.
    • Utilise and be able to sense check data on Power BI and provide critical feedback.
    • Collaborate with your team peers and cross-functionally to share knowledge and to establish a network.
    • Escalate issues proactively to regional lead.
