The Security Business Development team is responsible for strategic partnerships, opportunity identification, and growth initiatives across Microsoft’s Security platform and product portfolios. This role will be part of the team overseeing Entra (Identity & Access Management), Management (Intune Core & Intune Suite), SMB Security, Fraud Protection and Quantum Cryptography engineering initiatives.


We are seeking a skilled Business Development Manager to join our Security BD team. This individual will play a crucial role in driving strategy, product and partnership initiatives that will ensure integrity and security within key projects the team is leading.

The ideal candidate will be a customer and partner focused individual who enjoys and excels in developing partnership strategies, business analysis, negotiation, and deal management execution.


This person will be required to stay updated with the latest security trends in these security technologies and provide recommendations that will accelerate market engagement, product development and partnerships to the benefit of Microsoft first-party solutions.


As a Business Development Manager, you will have the opportunity to accelerate your career growth in business development. You will develop a deep business acumen of our security products and become adept at deal structuring.

This is a flexible work opportunity and currently operates on a hybrid work basis, with optional business travel opportunities for security and business events.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Liberal Arts, Sciences, or related field AND 3+ years relevant work experience (e.g., investment banking, consulting, finance, marketing, corporate strategy, sales, venture capital, legal, business development, product management, project management, software development, or related field)
    • OR equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Liberal Arts, Sciences, or related field AND 5+ years relevant work experience (e.g., investment banking, consulting, finance, marketing, corporate strategy, sales, venture capital, legal, business development, product management, project management, software development, or related field)
    • OR Masters/Advanced Degree in Business, Sciences, or related field AND 2+ years relevant work experience (e.g., investment banking, consulting, finance, marketing, corporate strategy, sales, venture capital, legal, business development, product management, project management, software development, or related field)
  • 4+ years' experience in the technology industry OR in a technical role (e.g., IT, Engineering)

Business Development IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $83,400 - $167,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $108,900 - $183,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage internal and external networks to develop new strategic relationships with senior business and technical business decision makers, becoming a trusted advisor and provide support for Entra Suite and Intune (Management) Core business relationships, on an as-and-when-required basis.
  • Articulate the value of Microsoft solutions in the context of the customer’s perspective, specifically relating to these security strategies.
  • Provide industry expertise to customer and partner decision-makers, across multiple lines of business. You’ll also leverage knowledge of customer and partner business priorities to drive their initiatives and influence the product roadmap.
  • Execute and apply value propositions to create partnerships with customers and partners, influencing internal stakeholders and partners to promote the value of opportunities.
  • Position the value of products against competitors, while establishing future collaborative opportunities and influencing product roadmaps to meet customer needs.
  • Identify and collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders to develop plans to source deals that target high-priority gaps across Microsoft’s technology, product, business, and/or geography. Identifies opportunities and strategy and maps target customers/partners; utilize quantitative data (e.g., usage, revenue) to inform internal and external decisions; provides input to recommendations on partners.
  • Lead and support deal opportunities across deal stages such as Strategy and Financial Approvals and represent Microsoft in key customer and partner interactions, recommending deal structures, and articulating key deal terms. Collaborate proactively to close opportunities and scale the business. Identify opportunities for customized approaches. Identify negotiation scenarios and manage executive escalations. Manage stakeholders to gain consensus and ensure internal alignment.
  • Develop deal management/governance plans for managing deals, including communications and reporting with Microsoft stakeholders.
