Overview

Microsoft Bing is looking for a motivated, self-driven Senior Data & Applied Scientist to join our mission. Essential attributes and competencies include excellence in scientific thinking and execution, ability to drive efficient experiment definition and investigations, solid skill in developing state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms and broad scope in solving NLU related ML problems.


The TechHelp segment team within Microsoft WebXT, works on the latest state-of-art ML tech to understand user query and data, builds both backend and frontend services to satisfy users, monitors product quality and react to issues in a timely manner. Everything is at web scale – billions of queries at milliseconds of latency. You’ll be flexible to work on any one or multiple areas.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related experience (e.g., statistics predictive analytics, research)
    • OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
    • OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ Years of experience in deep learning (extensive work on NLP is a plus).
  • Research or Industry experience with one or more of following areas Natural Language Processing (NLP), Document Understanding, Information Retrieval, Natural Language Understanding.
  • Experience in building, deploying, and improving large scale Machine Learning models and algorithms in real-world products.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 7+ years related experience (e.g., statistics predictive analytics, research)
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ Years of experience in deep learning (extensive work on NLP is a plus).
  • Published work in top-tier conferences & journals is a plus.
  • Knowledge and skills in machine learning software development and architectures for machine learning (with focus on deep learning).

Responsibilities

• Build and refine machine learning models to solve NLP tasks and productizing the solutions at scale and stay abreast with the SOTA advancements and use them to formulate novel solutions.
• Advancing the state of the art of NLP technologies for real world scenarios.
• Developing novel machine learning and data mining algorithms. Contribute ideas and techniques to shape decisions and improve product quality metrics. Participate in design, implementation and execution with a team of engineers, applied scientists and product managers.
• Collaborate with Program Managers, Architects and stakeholders for workforce planning, demand planning and end-to-end solution design.
• Build, mentor, and lead a diverse high-performance team of Data Scientists.
• Ensuring compliance with Security, Privacy, GDPR etc. and performance criteria.
• Use data and insights from customer and production to contribute to some technical design and implementation decisions.
