The Azure AI Speech Group brings together talent in signal processing, speech modeling, statistical modeling, and deep learning to develop and deliver robust, natural, and scalable speech recognition across a wide range of scenarios and languages. As a service model improvement team within the Speech Group, we have industrialized deep learning speech technologies and contributed key innovations to the speech community. We work on all aspects of end-to-end speech technologies, tackling the most challenging problems by inventing new algorithms. To that end, we are looking to hire a a Senior Applied Scientist who is passionate about innovating state-of-the-art speech modeling technologies that impact millions of users.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related experience (e.g., statistics predictive analytics, research) OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research) OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
- OR equivalent experience
Other Requirements
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
- This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: speech recognition, large language models, machine learning, data mining, pattern recognition.
- 3+ years of programming experience in Python.
- 2+ years of experience with PyTorch.
- Extensive experience in speech recognition model development.
- 3+ years of programming experience in C# (preferred), C++, or Java, with solid engineering practices.
- Strong software development skills and an aptitude for software design, coding, and quality. Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is a plus
Applied Sciences IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
