Overview
The goal of the Central Finance Team (CFT) team is to provide key insights that help Microsoft make better financial and business decisions. Our team is at the hub of Microsoft's financial activities, being a key strategic partner to all sides of the business and serving a diverse set of stakeholders: Chief Financial Officers (CFO), Senior Leadership Team, Engineering groups, and Sales and Marketing teams. It comprises of teams focused on Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) across all of the company’s financial activities, Investor Relations, Procurement & Finance Data.
We are looking for a Senior Finance Manager with analytical, collaboration and storytelling skills to lead our cross-commercial pillar within the Commercial Revenue FP&A team. This team is responsible for Adjusted Gross Revenue forecasting/analytics, modern revenue frameworks for our commercial business, external metrics & Key Performance Indicator (KPI) and supporting new go-to-market models like Modern Commerce. This person will have curiosity and a passion for understanding the drivers of business performance, collaborating across finance organizations to ensure that these drivers are well-understood and communicated effectively. In addition, this person will build and maintain connections to design, effectively scale and evangelize new frameworks across the organization.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field
- OR Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field
- OR equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year(s) work experience in the technology or software industry
- 1+ year(s) work experience in matrix-based organization
- 1+ year(s) experience in multinationals with multi-product/multi-segment finance roles
- Masters Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 6+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience
- 8+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership or Finance work experience OR equivalent experience.
Financial Analysis IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,600 - $183,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $122,000 - $200,500 per year.

Responsibilities
- Adjusted Gross Revenue: Drive the central expertise around deferral logic and one deferral calculator to ensure that we forecast and budget for Adjusted Gross revenue with the right level of accuracy through coordination with Finance Engineering Groups and the Field Finance Microsoft Customer and Partner Solutions (MCAPS) teams. Identify Risk + Ops and clearly articulate the drivers of business performance.
- Commercial business health framework: Partner with Worldwide Commercial Finance team, and other Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis
(CFP&A) teams to build and evangelize the new commercial business health framework, ensuring the right financial performance story and alignment with external messaging and internal execution. Partner with technical Business Intelligence (BI) teams on new requirements and development prioritization. - Investor Metrics & KPIs: Manage the overall reporting framework and model for total company investor metrics. Review the results prepared by the team for accuracy and completeness ahead of publish. Develop insights and commentary for quarter-end Close and Board of Directors reporting.
- Other Projects: Lead and support adhoc projects to implement new metrics in systems and tools, refine forecast processes and build expertise on AGR with stakeholders.
- Support new go-to-market models (e.g. Modern Commerce) to ensure reporting requirements are incorporated into the design and financial implications are well understood and communicated.
