Overview

We are the Microsoft Search, Assistant, and Intelligence (MSAI) team, responsible for building Microsoft 365 Copilot experiences and platform. MSAI brings together multiple research disciplines with engineering to reimagine the products that millions of people use every day. MSAI is responsible for applying the latest artificial intelligence technologies across Microsoft applications to anticipate our user’s needs and assist them in being more productive.

As the Chief of Staff, you will be supporting the CVP by running the day-to-day business operations function within the team. The ideal candidate has a blend of business management, business planning, and strategy experience, while embracing cross leadership (LT), cross geo and cross org partnering. The ideal candidate should be excited about tackling complex challenges to create the future of productivity for users across the globe.

You will drive the architecture, development, and execution of the rhythm of business. You will execute business plans to ensure continuation of business at all times, including in adverse conditions, in accordance with corporate governance. This opportunity will allow you to lead the strategy execution in partnership with the leadership team across the organization as well as leverage your deep knowledge of organizational strategy and planned deliverables for the upcoming year(s) to design budgets. You will lead in conjunction with stakeholders and the leadership team on multiple workstreams and drive team culture and health for the leader by getting a pulse on organizational health, as well as leading culture initiatives.

This role requires you to be onsite 3 days a week in Microsoft's offices in Redmond, WA. By applying to this U.S. Redmond, WA position, you are required to be local to the Seattle area and relocation does not apply/is not provided for the role.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 6+ years of experience in customer engagement, financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources or business-related roles
    • OR equivalent experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 5+ years of experience in customer engagement, financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources or business-related roles
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 8+ years of experience in Customer engagement, financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources or business-related roles
    • OR equivalent experience
  • 3+ years people management experience
Business Management M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $115,000 - $200,300 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $146,200 - $219,200 per year.

Responsibilities

  • You will architect, develop, and carry out the rhythm of business (ROB), while also driving business strategy initiatives. You’ll also execute business plans to ensure continuous operations in both normal and adverse conditions.
  • You will partner with organizational leadership to lead strategy execution, while overseeing alignment across groups. You’ll also leverage deep organizational strategy knowledge to design upcoming budgets.
  • You will provide leadership support by ensuring business activities are aligned with their goals. This will involve leading multiple workstreams, leveraging key partnerships to drive leadership agenda, serving in the absence of the leader as needed.
  • You will drive team culture by getting a pulse on organizational health and leading cultural initiatives. This will involve driving training completion rates, identifying team strengths and development areas, and ensuring a healthy compliance scorecard.
  • You will drive cross-team projects as needed to meet changing business requirements and manage complex business needs. You’ll also lead project management to ensure organization-wide implementation of strategic efforts.
