Overview

Microsoft AI is looking for a talented MacOS engineer to help build the next wave of capabilities of our personalized AI assistant, Copilot. We’re looking for someone who will bring an abundance of positive energy, empathy, and kindness to the team every day, in addition to being highly effective. The right candidate enjoys building world-class consumer experiences and products in a fast-paced environment. The Growth engineering team is responsible for user acquisition, engagement, retention, and feature development that drives rapid growth, while collaborating with our Product Management, Design, Data Scientists, and AI Research teams to deliver impactful results.

Our newly formed organization, Microsoft AI (MAI), is dedicated to advancing Copilot and other consumer AI products and research. The team is responsible for Copilot, Bing, Edge, and generative AI research. Come be a part of the team shaping the future personal computing.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience developing mobile applications for iOS and/or MacOS platforms with coding in languages including, but not limited to, Swift, Objective-C, Java
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of working knowledge of mobile application architecture, design patterns, and UI/UX principles.
  • 4+ years of working knowledge of Desktop/Mobile application architecture, design patterns, and UI/UX principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Contributions to open-source projects.
  • Experience building iOS and/or MacOS applications from scratch.
  • Experience in internationalization and localization, scaling products, applications, and engineering efforts to drive global growth.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers.
  • Passion for learning new technologies and staying up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in mobile development and AI.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and contribute to a positive, inclusive work environment, fostering knowledge sharing and growth within the team.
Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Care deeply about building outstanding consumer-grade desktop applications.
  • Build consumer grade applications for MacOS.
  • Ship high-quality, well-tested, secure, and maintainable code.
  • Use Swift, AppKit, and Core Graphics in your work while employing best engineering practices.
  • Develop shared components used in different Copilot products built for Apple platforms.
  • Innovate to break through technical limitations and deliver delightful features.
  • Work with product managers, data scientists, and marketing to implement strategies that drive user growth, engagement, and retention. This includes optimizing onboarding flows, improving product features, and delivering scalable infrastructure.
  • Find a path to get things done despite roadblocks to get your work into the hands of users quickly and iteratively.
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, design-driven, product development cycle.
  • Data Driven: partner closely with data science teams to analyze user behavior to optimize product features and drive user engagement.
