Overview

The CO+I AI Delivery team is focused on delivering various platform services to our global AI customers. This role will require deep partnership throughout all of Microsoft as these programs will be on the leading edge of innovation and will include driving pilots and other experiments that shape our ongoing commitment to deliver AI platform services rapidly at cloud scale. We are part of Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I), the team behind one of the world’s largest cloud infrastructures, responsible for powering all Microsoft online products and services as well as powering Microsoft’s “Cloud First” mission. CO+I is focused on growth, efficiency, and delivering a trusted experience to customers and partners worldwide.

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Technical Program Manager to manage critical AI Infrastructure deployment projects, deliver GPU-specific data center retrofit services, and drive related continuous improvement projects. Responsibilities for this role include creation and management of Liquid Cooling retrofit services to enable deployment of the latest liquid cooled GPU architectures into our data centers. The ideal candidate delivers through ambiguity, fosters collaboration, and builds trusted partnerships, and balances delivery and scaling.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years' experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 4+ years' experience in any Infrastructure (design, engineering, fulfillment OR operations) deployment.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.

Responsibilities

Analysis of Customer and Business Signals

  • Analyzes complex opportunities and gaps in multiple feature areas.
  • Leads customer engagements to understand experiences and conducts market research.
  • Integrates data on product usage to identify patterns and build plans.
  • Coaches teams to develop problem statements and hypotheses.
  • Owns experiments to inform decisions and aligns stakeholders with Microsoft’s strategy.
  • Defines solutions and roadmaps across various features.

Product/Service Definition

  • Partners with Engineering to design architecture and solutions for technical needs across features. Proposes design documents, selects best options, and collaborates with architects to develop architecture.
  • Defines program goals for multiple feature areas, prioritizes deliverables, and manages risks based on data.
  • Defines success criteria and performance metrics, ensures telemetry development, and understands return on investment to present to stakeholders.

Product/Service Development

  • Drive orchestration for feature areas in large cross-functional projects with internal teams and external partners.
  • Collaborate with engineering to prioritize and deliver roadmaps, answering technical questions.
  • Coordinate and communicate project schedules, track dependencies, identify risks, and adjust as needed.
  • Oversee governance programs to meet performance standards.
  • Validate outcomes, improve quality, and write test cases to enhance code quality.
  • Monitor and adjust plans based on OKRs and KPIs.

Product/Service Performance

  • Lead teams to collect performance metrics, monitor progress, and derive insights to improve features.
  • Utilize customer feedback to develop insights on product performance and share with partners.
  • Drive customer support experience, provide documentation, and track live-site incidents.
  • Act as a technical advisor and engage with customers to get feedback.
  • Collaborate on live-site improvements and support process enhancements.
