Microsoft AI (MAI) is seeking experienced Data Infrastructure Engineers to help build mission applications and platform components for our personal AI, Copilot systems. We’re looking for someone who possesses technical prowess, a methodical approach to problem-solving, proficiency in distributed systems and a mastery of templating to architect solutions that stand the test of time and who will bring an abundance of positive energy, empathy, and kindness to the team every day, in addition to being highly effective. The Data Platform team is responsible for building core data pipelines that help fine tune models, support introspection and retrospection of data so that we can constantly evolve and improve human AI interactions.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience in running operational tasks for high volume, low latency data systems.
- OR equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of experience in data operations, ML operations role in developing automation and operational tasks.
- 4+ years' experience managing distributed systems at scale and extensive systems knowledge that spans bare-metal hosts to containers to networking. Including touching all layers of a multi-tiered system, UI, Middle tier and platform services.
- Experience in one or more scripting languages writing automation, health check services, and CI/CD pipelines. Knowledge in Web technologies and tech stacks such as Node.Js/React/PHP is a plus.
- Experience operating, troubleshooting, and supporting high performance and business critical production systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years' experience building scalable services on top of public cloud infrastructure like Azure, AWS, or GCP. Extensive use datastores like RDBMS, key-value stores, messaging systems like EventHub/Kafka/Rabbit MQetc.
- Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and user experience.
- Experience in collaborating with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Networking Engineers and Infrastructure teams is critical for this role.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers.
- Passion for learning new technologies and staying up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in web development and AI.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing requirements and deadlines.
- Knowledge of AI, Deep Learning, Machine learning will be an advantage.
Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
