Our exciting and talented team continuously works on delivering consumers a highly secure, scalable and reliable platform for marketing experiences at Microsoft, including campaign management, marketing sites and consumer store experiences. We are infusing AI throughout the process to radically change the way marketing content is generated, rendered and personalized. We are looking for a motivated Principal Software Engineer who is passionate about building solid, reliable platforms and experiences that delight end users. As a Principal Software Engineer on the Marketing Engineering team, you will provide thought leadership, create technical roadmaps, lead implementation strategies, and drive implementation of delightful, accessible and extensible end-user experiences. This is an opportunity for you to bring your passion and expertise in user experience design and web frameworks to help drive the experience build out.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience transforming Designs into rich experiences.
  • Experience leading build out of scalable, accessible frameworks for web and mobile experiences.
  • Deep experience with modern web technologies such as Web Components and React; familiarity/experience with open-source frameworks such as Google LIT.
  • Experience with Bootstrap, HTML5, CSS3 and SASS.
  • Proficient with source control management, build and deploy products such as Azure Dev Ops, toolkits and best practices for front-end engineering such as latest ECMA standards, bundlers, Story Book etc.
  • Experience in working with a broad array of stakeholders to define, develop and support engineering solutions.
  • Proficient analytical skills with systematic and structured approach to front-end design and implementation.
  • Experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) a plus.

Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a delightful, accessible core component library for web and mobile experiences for all Microsoft marketing properties; define a framework for other teams to build on the component library
  • Collaborate with a wide variety of marketing, design and engineering teams to develop roadmaps and implementation plans.
  • Coordinates with design and experience teams to transform designs from Figma or other design tools into extensible components for implementation and maximizing re-use.
  • Leads by example and mentors others to produce extensible and maintainable front-end frameworks and experiences.
  • Leads efforts to optimize solutions leveraging modern web frameworks, open source and 1st party solutions.
  • Helps define metrics and targets for optimizing end-user experiences.
