Overview

The Mixed Reality Team at Microsoft is at the forefront of revolutionizing military training and operations by building cutting edge technology and products tailored to the real-world challenges soldiers face. The Product Acceptance & Customer Test Team within Mixed Reality is responsible for ensuring these products meet the highest standards and function in the harshest of real-world customer environments. We are hiring an experienced Principal Technical Program Manager to join a dynamic product team to help us push the boundaries of mixed reality devices.

As a Principal Technical Program Manager, you will drive planning and execution for complex engagements requiring a high degree of product, industry, and customer expertise. Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 6+ years experience as a subject matter expert with government customers.
  • 6+ years of experience program managing complex engagements or product validation events.

Other Requirements
Ablity to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements that are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  • Citizeship verification: This role will require access to information that is controlled for export under export control regulations, potentially under the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations or Export Administration Regulations, the EU Dual Use Regulation, and/or other export control regulations. As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to provide proof of citizenship, U.S. permanent residency, or other protected status (e.g., under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3)) for assessment of eligibility to access the export-controlled information. To meet this legal requirement, and as a condition of employment, the successful candidate’s citizenship will be verified with a valid passport. Lawful permanent residents, refugees, and asylees may verify status using other documents, where applicable.
  • This position requires verification of citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local US government agency customers and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, and as a condition of employment, the successful candidate’s citizenship will be verified with a valid passport.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 1+ year(s) experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).
  • Experience working in a similar role within the technology or defense industry.
  • Deep technical capabilities to master new concepts and translate them for customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Experience integrating information from multiple teams, escalating issues at the right time/ level and ability to bring the teams together to resolve issues in a productive manner.
  • Familiarity with typical first responder standard operating procedures.
  • Military experience.

Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.

  • Cross-functional collaboration with partner teams is critical to success.
  • Development and execution of complex technical product test plans.
  • Engagement with customers to drive product feedback into the engineering organization for continuous product iteration and improvement.
  • Defining and driving execution schedules for customer engagements across multiple product lines.
  • Program management for schedule, deliverables, teams, and budgets.
  • Synthesizing the complex as you provide technical status and updates to Senior Management.
  • Leverage subject matter expertise to optimize product performance and company performance during engagements with customers.
