Microsoft’s Cloud business is expanding, and the Cloud Supply Chain (CSCP) organization is responsible for enabling the infrastructure underlying this growth including AI! CSCP’s vision is to empower customers to achieve more by delivering Cloud Capacity Differentiated at Scale. Our mission is to deliver capacity for all cloud services predictably through intelligent systems driven by continuous learning and a world class organization. The CSCP Organization is responsible for traditional supply chain functions such as Plan, Source, Make, Deliver, but also manages supportability (spares), decommissioning and disposition of Data center assets worldwide. We deliver the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Skype, OneDrive and the Microsoft Azure platform for external customers. Our infrastructure is comprised of a large global portfolio of more than 200 datacenters supporting services for more than 1 billion customers in over 90 countries worldwide.

We are looking for a Global Supply Manager to join the Server Supply Chain Team. This position will be responsible for long lead materials, such as PCBA’s, PSU, PDU and hardware, to build server racks for our datacenter infrastructure. Microsoft Global Supply Managers meet with suppliers regularly to understand their capabilities and compare forecast with supply commitments to support our international requirements. This includes setting inventory policy (safety stock, min/max inventory management) supporting product transitions and innovating new processes and tools to reduce cycle time and assure supply. Candidates should be a subject matter expert in the field of supply planning for electronics manufacturing and help create new processes and improvements to drive continuous improvement in our supply chain. Ideal candidates will work with all levels of management, be effective communicators and have ability to manage complex situations with clear updates and effective results. This role will work closely with our supplier partners, 3PL providers, as well as internal stakeholders to communicate supply concerns and put mitigation plans in place accordingly.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain Analytics, or related field AND 1+ year(s) supply planning, operations, supply chain, indirect supply planning, technology-related supply chain, sourcing and manufacturing, or related experience OR Master's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain Analytics, or related field OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years in Electronics manufacturing supply planning or similar role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • Broad knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes (PCBA’s) and logistics.
  • Inventory management experience.
  • Be able to communicate fluently in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience in electronics assembly and server industry.
  • Deep understanding of Supply Planning elements, tools and process.
  • Proven track record in delivering change, process improvement, and lean manufacturing solutions.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems, including material planning specific software such as SAP or Oracle.
  • Expert level with MS Office Applications, focus on Excel.
  • Liquid cooling experience plus PCBA and Final assembly & Testing would be preferred.

  • Meet regularly with assigned suppliers to review forecast, capture supply commitments and publish internally.
  • Review all PO’s placed by MSFT System Integrators and assure compliance and supportability against our 3PL inventory positioning.
  • Manage metrics including days of supply, E&O, shortages within lead time and inventory exposure at each supplier to improve performance.
  • Work with Supply Chain, and Capacity Planning teams on the timing and availability of product transitions in order to plan for platform end of life (minimizing E&O inventory) and ramp of new platforms
  • Define inventory buffer targets (in conjunction with Supply Planning) and strategies based on historical usage and forecast, and define financial risk/liability associated with said buffers
  • Perform scenario analysis to understand impact of component shortages, demand upside/downside, etc. to Supply Plan of Record
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and work with cross functional teams to improve tools and process to better meet our global demands.
