The Construction Execution Manager (CEM) is responsible for ensuring that each project meets the Data Center Development (DCD) guidelines and standards, which may be adjusted from time-to-time based on best practices and Lesson Learned drawn from previous projects as well as industry changing best practices. CEM is aimed to work closely with project teams across metro regions to help ensure consistent implementation of contract requirements, scope of work, project setup, data integrity, reporting, optimize resource allocation, process improvement & training, and compliance.
The CEM will not be assigned to just one specific project or metro but will be working on multiple projects that require additional support and oversight. You will actively participate in construction progress meetings, internal and external stakeholder meetings, leadership escalation meetings, and perform jobsite visits as necessary. (Please note that this role require 25% travel.)

Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) is the business unit responsible for operating Microsoft’s cloud and the Datacenter Construction Delivery (DCD) team is responsible for constructing datacenter capacity. We have a portfolio of complex, multi-disciplinary, multi-million, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects underway. Our focus is on smart growth, high efficiency, and delivering a trusted experience to customers and partners worldwide. Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 10+ years related experience
- OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 12+ years related experience
- OR equivalent experience.
- 12+ years experience working on data center projects.
- Effective interpersonal, communication, organizational skills,
- Ability to self-direct, strong background in data center design, engineering, controls, operational requirements, managing teams and vendors, and an emphasis on project/construction management.

Responsibilities
- Project Health Analysis: Provide a comprehensive project health assessment, evaluating performance against contract Service Level Agreement (SLA), scope, execution plans, costs, schedules, safety, and predictability.
- Project Setup: Assist in high-risk projects to ensure initial setup, necessary framework, and resources are in place. Collaborate with project stakeholders to ensure inclusivity in project kickoff and expectations of milestones and goals.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct regular and random audits on projects to ensure compliance and identify improvements.
- Standardize Functional Reporting: Review and ensure project reporting across all team functions are consistent and data integrity is maintained for the wider organization and leadership. Ensure reporting tools across stakeholder teams are accurately reporting data and identify improvements and efficiency.
- Resource Effectiveness: Assess the effectiveness of site resources and optimize project outcomes where needed.
- Training & Process Improvement: Assist in onboarding and training of new FTE to maintain high standards of project execution. Provide their respective team with best practices, functional support, and process improvement.
- Lessons Learned: Ensure learnings are reported to the regional leaders so they can be institutionalized across regions to help support continuous improvement for respective functions.
- Safety Advocate: Safety is one of the four pillars of CO+I's mission in delivering cloud capacity; joined by Quality, Schedule Adherence, and Cost Management. CEM will be a relentless safety advocate for managing a safe worksite and thus will partner with the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team to maintain the highest standard of safety for all our data center projects.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: CEM will work closely with their counterparts across all regions to ensure consistent implementation of process and program improvement, data alignment, framework, and project Service Level Agreements (SLA's.)
