Microsoft’s Cloud business is expanding, and the Cloud Supply Chain (CSCP) organization is responsible for enabling the infrastructure underlying this growth including AI! The CSCP Organization is responsible for traditional supply chain functions such as Plan, Source, Make, Deliver, but also manages supportability (spares), decommissioning and disposition of Data center assets worldwide. We deliver the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Skype, OneDrive and the Microsoft Azure platform for external customers. Our infrastructure is comprised of a large global portfolio of more than 200 datacenters supporting services for more than 1 billion customers in over 90 countries worldwide.
This role is part of AI Planning which is within the Microsoft Cloud Planning (MCP) organization in CSCP. Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, Information Technology (IT), Business, Operations, Finance, Accounting, Data Science, or related field AND 4+ years supply chain, inventory management or sales operations experience, preferably in planning (demand/supply/forecasting), cloud industry experience, infrastructure, data science, and/or channel management experience
- OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, Information Technology (IT), Business, Operations, Finance, Accounting, Data Science, or related field AND 8+ years supply chain.
- Inventory management or sales operations experience, preferably in planning (demand/supply/forecasting).
- Cloud industry experience, infrastructure, data science, and/or channel management experience.
- OR equivalent experience.
Demand Planning IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,600 - $183,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $122,000 - $200,500 per year.

Responsibilities
- For AI Planning Portfolio:
- Demonstrates a deep understanding of analysis, which can include quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, including the strengths, limitations, and applicability of each.
- Generates insights from multiple studies or sources, and interprets the business implications for stakeholders. Identifies opportunities to do additional in-depth analysis on specific business questions.
- Capacity Plan Develops a capacity order plan that meets customer needs, while maintaining compliance to supply and execution policies, through put capacities and contractual requirements.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Evaluates cross-functional supply-chain processes within their area of responsibility, recommends improvements to stakeholders, and delivers solutions to support these improvements.
- Demand Planning and Forecasts:
- Defines the plan or forecast and manages it for multiple services or areas, incorporates the business drivers into the plan (e.g., forecast, budget).
- Drives understanding of what is required to achieve plan (e.g., promotions, sales resources, collaborative planning, forecasting, and replenishment [CPFR], budget, engineering changes).
- Performs data analyses to identify trends, patterns, correlations, and insights to develop new forecasting models and improving existing models.
- Proactively identifies demand planning opportunities for improvement.
- Assists in the ongoing development and maintenance of demand planning processes and systems to improve forecasting accuracy.
- Documents and communicates demand forecast insights to stakeholders up to and including the executive level.
- Partners closely with Marketing, Finance, and/or Channel Operations to drive optimal short and long-term demand plans to achieve financial and operations targets.
- Finished goods inventory: Begins to design solutions independently to adjust to changes in demand after deployment and excessive finished goods.
- May collaborate with others on the reworking of finished goods.
- Addresses excess goods by beginning to repurpose such goods for components or more complex products.
- Lifecycle Management:
- Manages hardware and software roadmap.
- Launches through decommission plans and strategies (e.g., demand forecast, inventory, buffer).
- Design solutions toward managing them or request events to mitigate business risk.
- Machine Learning and Analysis:
- Collaborates to leverage data to identify pockets of opportunity to apply algorithms to improve solutions to a business problem.
- Uses statistical analysis tools to evaluate and leverage Machine Learning models for demand planning usage.
- Assists with the communication of insights under the direction of senior team members.
- Applies advanced analytics concepts towards rich insights and key financial and strategic decisions.
- Risk Management:
- Identifies, communicates, and actively mitigates capacity risk.
- Collaborates with the team to determine prioritization and criticality during demand or supply events (e.g., quality, hardware, reliability, execution delays).
- Manages risk to financial plans and margins.
- Contributes to creating the correct buffer and inventory strategy to manage risk.
