Overview

The Microsoft Entra Identity Governance team is hiring a Principal Software Engineer to reshape security and deliver end-to-end, simplified solutions that empower every user, customer, and developer.

Our team enables organizations to boost productivity, fortify security, and effortlessly meet compliance and regulatory requirements. As part of the Microsoft Security organization, which drives Microsoft’s mission to secure digital platforms and clouds in diverse environments, we play a critical role in protecting our customers and our own internal estate.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with system architecture and building scalable systems.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop distributed systems.
  • Take ownership of writing, testing, and maintaining high-quality code.
  • Resolve complex system integration challenges working across team boundaries.
  • Share learnings and code assets developed with the Entra Governance engineering team.
  • Utilize product expertise to collaborate with stakeholders and drive project and release plans for the workgroup.
  • Serve as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI), guiding engineers with the playbook, monitoring system performance, alerting stakeholders, and initiating actions to resolve problems.
