Overview

Microsoft Research India (MSR India) is inviting applications for Postdoctoral Researcher positions. The postdoc program at MSR India provides postdoctoral researchers an opportunity to work on impactful research problems while collaborating closely with Microsoft researchers and product groups. Postdoctoral researchers spend 1 to 2 years at MSR India and receive ongoing guidance and mentoring from experienced researchers.

Our areas of interest are Computer Science Theory and Cryptography, Machine Learning and AI, Systems, and Technology and Empowerment. Projects in the lab are inter-disciplinary and span across these research areas. While we are looking for exceptional candidates in all these areas, we are particularly interested in candidates with a demonstrated track record in AI/ML research, including advances in AI/ML algorithms, systems for AI workloads, the science behind AI models, and application of AI models to different areas (software engineering, societal issues, etc.).

If you are interested, please:

  • Apply with your application material (including CV, Research Statement, and at least 3 letters of recommendation to be submitted directly by the letter writers).
  • Once the application has been submitted, feel free to send an email to a member of our research staff (whose interest most closely matches yours) about your application. Our staff webpages can be accessed from Microsoft Research India by browsing through the research areas.

The applications will be considered on an ongoing basis. For any queries, please write to msri-postdoc-hiring@microsoft.com.

Located in Bengaluru, Microsoft Research India is one of the most attractive places to pursue a research career in Computer Science and related disciplines. The lab has a vibrant research environment of the highest standard, and a welcoming social life of diverse and international culture. Besides full-time researchers, engineers, and postdocs, the lab hosts many research fellows (with bachelor's or master's degrees) on fixed-term appointments, who add significantly to the lab’s vibrancy.
