We are looking for a Principal Technical Program Manager to join the Security Engineering team, which is focused on securing the tools and processes that support the Microsoft cloud and associated technologies and organizations. As a Principal Technical Program Manager, you will have an impact on cloud architecture, tooling, and processes to secure the way in which our most important cloud offerings are operationalized. Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team security related engineering projects.
  • 3+ years of experience developing execution plans around security related engineering projects.
  • 1+ years in systems design or cloud services architecture

Other Requirements:

  • This position requires verification of citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local government agency customers and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, and as a condition of employment, the successful candidate’s citizenship will be verified with a valid passport.
  • This role will require access to information that is controlled for export under export control regulations, potentially under the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations or Export Administration Regulations, the EU Dual Use Regulation, and/or other export control regulations. As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to provide proof of citizenship, U.S. permanent residency, or other protected status (e.g., under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3)) for assessment of eligibility to access the export-controlled information. To meet this legal requirement, and as a condition of employment, the successful candidate’s citizenship will be verified with a valid passport. Lawful permanent residents, refugees, and asylees may verify status using other documents, where applicable.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team engineering projects.
  • 1+ year(s) experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).

Technical Program Management M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Security Engineering organization transformation
  • Drive secure engineering policies, practices, and tooling across user-facing services at Microsoft, including AI platforms and implementations.
  • Help guide engineering teams across Microsoft on security best practices.
  • Collaborate with teams across Microsoft to help define the state of the art for detection, prevention, and elimination of security risks.
  • Identifying emerging security problems that need additional focus, and contributing to building solutions to solve them, often utilizing AI.
  • Plan and manage an expanding portfolio of security and privacy programs and track associated metrics.
