Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA) is now extending its footprint into Hongkong and looking for a Senior Researcher specializing in AI with a strong focus on Multimedia and Vision, Immersive & Embodied AI, Multimodal Foundation Models, and related fields. This is an exceptional opportunity to drive an ambitious research agenda while collaborating with diverse teams to push for novel applications of those research areas.
Qualifications
- Doctorate in relevant field AND 1+ year(s) related research experience OR equivalent experience.
- Experience publishing academic papers as a lead author or essential contributor.
- Experience developing core AI algorithms and solutions in the fields including but not limited to multimedia, vision, immersive AI, embodied AI, HCI, and multimodal foundation models.
- Deep knowledge about the latest large foundation models, agentic AI system, and their applications
- Strong communication skills to engage with various collaborators both externally and internally
Responsibilities
- As an accomplished expert in a broad research area (e.g., Multimedia and Vision, AI and Machine Learning, NLP and Foundation Model) has a comprehensive understanding of the relevant literature, research methods, and business and academic context.
- Leads a joint research effort (possibly involving multiple teams/universities inside and outside of Microsoft) to pursue a long-term research agenda which is in line with MSRA strategy.
- Fosters cooperative relationships with academic communities, industry partners, and business groups within Microsoft to establish MSRA presence locally and support future growth.
- Creates synergy among MSRA research groups in multiple locations to enable collaboration and creativity.
