We are looking for a Principal Software Architect - Azure Object Storage who is passionate about distributed storage. We are building the next generation Object Storage capabilities for AI scenarios. Azure Blob Storage is the storage for world’s most powerful AI super computers. It also is the storage behind most popular AI applications like ChatGPT. We want to build novel capabilities for AI training and inferencing scenarios and reimagine storage for the AI era. This opportunity will allow you to thrive while solving challenges related to performance, availability, and scale for a distributed system.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C# or Python.
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years programming experience in designing products and services in systems and backend.
  • 8+ years of experiences in building quality products and scalable distributed services, and designing and building large scale distributed systems.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C# or Python.
    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 9+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C# or Python.
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience architecting distributed systems and large-scale storage.
  • Experience with AI System.

Software Engineering IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $161,600 - $286,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $209,600 - $314,400 per year.

  • Design, build, maintain and operate services with high traffic, high resiliency with millions of requests across multiple global regions.
  • Design and Architect the next generation of enhancements in the Core Azure Blob Storage service for AI scenarios.
  • Mentor and develop engineers across all levels through sharing and learning.
