Overview
Microsoft's Corporate Accounting Revenue Assurance team is looking for a highly skilled and motivated accounting professional with a drive to ensure complete and accurate financial results. The Corporate Accounting Reporting and Analysis team focuses on defining revenue recognition policy across products and programs, enhancing and consulting on system integration and design, researching GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) revenue recognition questions and analyzing and reporting consolidated financial results.
The Finance Manager, Product Revenue Accounting, will focus on controllership activities related to Per User products and services (such as Windows, Office, and Dynamics). This position provides high visibility to management across our business groups, as well as an opportunity to work with a team of impressive professionals experienced in technical accounting. You will be collaborative and motivated, working closely with business partners to deeply understand business strategy and related processes.

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 2+ years accounting or finance experience
- OR Master's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 1+ year(s) accounting or finance experience
- OR equivalent experience.
- 1+ year(s) of US GAAP knowledge and experience.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 5+ years accounting or finance experience
- OR Master's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 3+ years accounting or finance experience
OR equivalent experience.
- Professional accounting certification such as CPA or equivalent.
- 4+ years of related work experience, preferably a mix of tech companies and public accounting; Software and Technology industry is a plus.
- Adept US GAAP knowledge and experience, with an emphasis on ASC 606.
- Ability to collaborate and be comfortable dealing with ambiguity, influencing across multiple complex organization, and creating effecting partnerships.
- Ability to effectively scope accounting issues, apply the relevant accounting knowledge base and make decisions with conviction; make the complex simple.
- Business partnering and cross-group collaboration skills.
- Financial, analytical and communication skills, including presentation of data
- Self-starter that is well organized, adaptable, and able to multi-task and work well under pressure
Accounting IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $75,100 - $148,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $98,800 - $163,300 per year.

Responsibilities
- Close Process: Reviews complex accounting records in compliance with accounting policies and guidelines. Complete month-end close activities, own content for Monthly Business Review/Quarterly Business Review leadership presentations, and assist in internal and external audit queries.
- Review and maintain operational and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls and monthly inter-systems reconciliations.
- Develop a solid understanding of end-to-end processes, data flows, control environment, and financial systems supporting Online Commercial revenue.
- Drives end-to-end risk assessment activities and investigations of identified system and financial issues within the end-to-end reporting processes. Work proactively with various business and engineering partners to solve open issues and ensure risks are mitigated with appropriate financial processes and have sound internal controls in place.
- Design and execute manual processes to bridge any system gaps that are both planned and unplanned.
- Develop relationships with business partners and take a leadership role on cross-group initiatives to improve business and reporting processes and solve problems. Provide guidance to stakeholders to ensure all risks and issues are appropriately captured, mitigated, and managed.
