At Microsoft AI, Consumer Product Managers play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of our personal AI, Copilot. As a Principal Product Manager on this team, you will combine creativity, curiosity, and technical expertise to drive challenging projects to successful outcomes. By collaborating with engineers, designers, other product managers, and AI researchers, you'll transform ambiguous projects into exceptional user experiences that delight our customers. The ideal candidate takes initiative and thrives on building world-class consumer products and experiences.
We’re looking for a Principal Product Manager (PM) with technical and data skills to help build the next wave of capabilities for our personal AI, Copilot. Responsibilities:
As a Principal Product Manager, you will balance creativity, curiosity, and technical expertise to drive challenging projects to successful completion. You will work closely with engineers, designers, other product managers, and AI researchers to take ambiguous projects and mold them into amazing experiences to delight our customers. This role requires a balance of technical skills and effective collaboration skills. You will:
  • Own a product area and be responsible for understanding user needs and behaviors, defining product requirements, and managing end-to-end product development, launches, and iterations.
  • Find a path to get things done despite roadblocks to get your work into the hands of users quickly and iteratively.
  • Translate business goals into strategy, user experience, and technical requirements in close collaboration with UX designers and AI model training teams.
  • Define goals and performance indicators, set up and oversee experiments, measure success, and iterate.
  • Dive deep into the data to understand user behaviors and business performance to uncover product opportunities.
  • Collaborate effectively and communicate clearly with cross-functional teams to build exceptional consumer-grade applications.

Qualifications:
Required/Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree AND 8 years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development
  • OR equivalent experience.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 10 years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience building consumer products
  • Experience building consumer products for large screens (Windows/Mac/Web).
  • Experience building consumer products in personal productivity, search, education, or messaging.
  • Experience building consumer products leveraging Machine Learning or Large Language Models.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing requirements and deadlines.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and contribute to a positive, inclusive work environment, fostering knowledge sharing and growth within the team.
  • Experience with data analytics and experimentation tools. Working knowledge of SQL and coding skills (Python, Javascript).
Product Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
