Overview
We are seeking an experienced and innovative, Product Marketing Director, MAI Monetization, an individual contributor to lead Product Marketing for new monetization products across our suite of channels, such as Search and Copilot.
The scope of work can include advertising, new monetization models, and the release of internal CRM tools to help us better serve our customers. This role involves collaboration with product managers and marketing partners, leading thoughtful go-to-market strategies, defining appealing product positioning, and influencing customer-centric roadmaps.
We are looking for a seasoned product marketer with a proven record of successful partnerships with Engineering and PM teams. We seek someone with experience applying different customer listening approaches to influence product decisions.
Finally, the ideal candidate must be able to define compelling and differentiated product positioning, serve as a beacon for our product value proposition, guide internal teams, and enable the creation of consistent external messaging.

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 4+ years experience in business
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 6+ years experience in business
- OR equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of experience in Product Marketing, Product Management, or similar roles, leading cross-organizational teams and working with Engineering partners.
- 4+ years of experience in applying different customer listening approaches to inform and influence product development.
- 4+ years of experience in product positioning and value proposition, with experience in leading differentiated value propositions and translating complex features into compelling narratives.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Capacity to deal with ambiguity and iterate with partners to refine new concepts and business models.
- Experience cultivating trust-based relationships directly with senior-level leaders internally.
- Demonstrates curiosity and actively explores options. Responds efficiently to changing demands and circumstances, maintaining a constructive attitude.
- Data-Driven Problem Solver: Uses data to identify trends and prioritize work. Set up hypotheses and test them out to inform how we should scale.
- Organizational agility and ability to work across organizational boundaries to build alignment at multiple levels of leadership and drive closure on issues.
- Advertising industry experience: deep knowledge of the digital advertising landscape. It can be on the agency, publisher, or brand side. Experience with other monetization strategies (such as subscription models) is a plus.
- Category development: experience defining or driving demand for a new category of products. Experience with GTMing disruptive products preferred.
- Experience with AI products: worked with generative AI products, professionally (ideally) or as a user. Understand the concept of agents and how brands could use them. Committed understanding of the generative AI tech landscape, preferably in marketing and advertising scenarios.
Product Marketing IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $129,200 - $248,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $162,000 - $268,900 per year.

Responsibilities
- Customer Listening and Market Signals: Seek market intelligence signals and lead customer listening strategies and execution to identify growth opportunities, investment priorities, and inform the product roadmap. Determine areas of market research and create deep collaboration with the field to connect with clients and understand their needs. Understand competitors’ strengths, weaknesses, and Microsoft’s competitive positioning, and anticipate the business implications. Provide expertise in developing insights from market or user research, competitive analyses, and industry trends. Synthesize and articulate customer feedback, mobilizing internal teams to address it.
- Product Positioning, Value Proposition, and Messaging: Lead the creation of a differentiated value proposition that aligns with customer goals. Drive the development of product positioning and value proposition pillars with tangible proof points and crisp messaging aligned across stakeholders. Support partner teams in client-facing communication and enablement. Clearly articulate our product story in blog posts and tentpole event presentations for marquee product launches.
- Go-to-Market: Lead v-teams and direct marketing strategies for effective product releases, maximizing adoption, and customer satisfaction. Set clear goals and impact metrics, orchestrating cross-functional teams to leverage the appropriate marketing and sales channels to achieve them. Develop and execute impactful launch strategies that leverage key industry and first-party events, setting clear release schedule goals for the Product Management teams.
- Thought Leadership and GAI Adoption Acceleration: Act as a trusted partner and leader in the generative AI (GAI) space, representing Microsoft in strategic discussions with advertising executives and select industry events. Provide guidance to internal partners on Microsoft’s differentiated value proposition and point of view on how Microsoft can grow ad revenue based on an understanding of customer needs and the industry landscape.
- Scale Enablement: Ensure that Learning and Development, Sales, and Marketing teams know our roadmap, positioning, and value proposition, empowering them to scale enablement across clients and internal teams. Lead select and strategic product training sessions, driving excitement and clarity around key product announcements.
- Growth Mindset and Inclusive Thinking: Proactively seek feedback from diverse clients and users, uncovering new growth opportunities and mitigating bias in AI products. Lead a “always learning” culture with constant assessment of what we can do better, encouraging open and honest conversations and reflections, while ensuring that all voices are heard.
