Data, Privacy and Security for MAI is focused on building systems that accelerate the development progress by making it easy and safe to incorporate more data and integrations that would otherwise be too scary/risky to do.

We are looking for a Chief of Staff to join our team. As Chief of Staff, you will be charged with thinking expansively and working proactively to improve the effectiveness of the leadership team, the overall organization, its strategy, and its impact. The successful candidate for this position possesses an ability to lead through influence across teams and levels of seniority; demonstrates the discipline to seek clarity and deliver results even in ambiguous situations; and exhibits emotional intelligence and caring. They should be reliable and comfortable independently executing key priorities. This role will report directly to the Corporate Vice President of Microsoft AI Data, Privacy, and Security Engineering As such, experience in one or more of these domains will be very valuable.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 8+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience driving complex, multi-stakeholder processes and cross-team programs
  • Experience with executive communications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated technical acumen or experience working closely with engineering or data science teams
  • Experience working with a globally distributed workforce
  • Experience as a Chief of Staff at a technology company

Business Management IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $277,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $303,600 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership Effectiveness
    Drive the architecture, development, and execution of the rhythm of business. Drive business review cadence. Create and drive leadership team & extended leadership team processes and agendas, including follow through and related communications to enable successful leadership of the organization. Participate as a valued leadership team member and offer perspectives to influence key strategic decisions. Maximize the effectiveness of the leadership team by helping balance priorities, communicate effectively, participate in the most relevant meetings, and connect with the team.
  • Communications
    Drive internal communications for team meetings and deliverables across the rhythm of business. Plan and manage team meetings including All Hands, staff meetings and manager meetings. In partnership with PR, manage the CVP’s external communications for customer/partner engagements, speaking engagements and blogs.
  • Business Partner Relationships
    Establish and maintain key points of contact with internal teams (e.g., Public Relations, Human Resources, Marketing, Business Development etc.); manage and cultivate relationships with leaders of internal teams. Build relationships with executives (e.g., global executive sponsors, CVPs).
  • Business Integration
    Drive strategic initiatives and provide thought leadership. Identify issues that impede business group success and provide solutions/recommendations. Identify opportunities to create cross-group collaboration and synergies. Partner with Human Resources to orchestrate team design conversations and facilitate successful implementation of organizational plans. Demonstrate discretion and professionalism when working with the leadership team on sensitive business and organizational issues, manage ambiguity, and propose workable solutions to challenging problems.
  • Organizational Health
    Drive team culture by getting a pulse on organizational health, as well as leading culture initiatives (e.g., Diversity & Inclusion, onboarding, etc.), in partnership with Human Resources. Leverage employee listening systems: e.g., track Employee Signals responses and coordinate an action plan, where applicable, capitalizing on team strengths and identifying development areas. Drive training opportunities and completion rates, ensuring a compliant and growing organization.
