Overview

The Commercial Marketing Brand Design Studio is seeking a Brand Studio Designer to help shape the visual identity of Microsoft’s commercial portfolio. In this role, you will act as a creative, detail-oriented designer who thrives at the intersection of brand storytelling, system thinking, and omnichannel marketing. You’ll work across a broad range of formats -- including paid media, social, email, web, eBooks, and motion -- translating strategic briefs into compelling design solutions that drive clarity, consistency, and engagement. In this role, you will collaborate with Creative Directors, Art Directors, and cross-functional stakeholders to develop scalable visual systems, branded content, and campaign-ready assets. You will also leverage AI-powered tools to explore new formats and push the boundaries of brand expression.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Certificate in Design, Fine Arts, Human Computer Interaction, Visual Communications or related art field AND 2+ years experience in brand design, visual systems, or omnichannel marketing design
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years experience demonstrating quality in brand identity, campaign development, and multi-format execution (e.g., ads, social, email, eBooks).
  • 2+ years experience in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma and experience with AI-powered design tools, or related experience.
  • 2+ years experience with typography, layout, color theory, and visual hierarchy, and related skills.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

  • Experience in collaboration and communication skills in cross-functional and distributed team environments.
  • Experience using design to solve business problems and create memorable brand experiences.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft brand and product ecosystem.
  • Experience working in both in-house and agency environments.

Art IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Design and evolve brand systems that scale across key channels, including paid media, social, email, web, eBooks, and motion.
  • Translate strategic briefs into concept explorations, mood boards, mockups, and final production-ready assets.
  • Develop templates, design kits, and visual toolkits that support internal teams and agency partners in executing on-brand creative.
  • Document design rationale and usage guidelines to ensure brand consistency across teams and deliverables.
  • Present work and rationale clearly in design reviews; contribute constructive feedback to peer critiques.
  • Conduct design audits and research to inform system evolution and support design decisions.
  • Collaborate with copywriters, producers, and other designers to align on strategy and execution.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to craft and attention to detail, while supporting a team culture that values quality -- even in a deadline-driven environments.
  • Use AI tools and generative platforms to accelerate production and expand creative possibilities.
