Microsoft’s Cloud business is expanding, and the Cloud Supply Chain (CSCP) organization is responsible for enabling the hardware infrastructure underlying this growth including AI! CSCP’s vision is to empower customers to achieve more by delivering Cloud and AI capabilities at scale. Our mission is to deliver the world's computer with an industry-leading supply chain. The CSCP organization is responsible for traditional supply chain functions such as plan, source, make, deliver, but also manages supportability (spares), sustainability, and decommissioning of datacenter assets worldwide. We deliver the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, OneDrive and the Microsoft Azure platform for external customers. Our infrastructure is supported by more than 300 datacenters around the world that enable services for more than 1 billion customers in over 90 countries.


We are looking for a Senior Demand Planning Manager to join our team. Our mission within Microsoft Cloud Planning (MCP) is to lead the world’s cloud experience through optimal, predictable, and connected planning. Network Hardware Planning is part of MCP and focused on all aspects of planning for Network Hardware that is deployed at Microsoft’s data centers. The team works with partners within MCP, CSCP, Finance and Azure Engineering to plan & execute the new technologies for scale and agility. This role works with partners to create the hardware demand forecast & deliver capacity for scale and agility.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, Information Technology (IT), Business, Operations, Finance, Accounting, Data Science, or related field AND 4+ years supply chain, inventory management or sales operations experience, preferably in planning (demand/supply/forecasting), cloud industry experience, infrastructure, data science, and/or channel management experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure and planning.
  • 3+ years of experience in in demand planning, capacity planning and system architecture.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Additional or preferred qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, Information Technology (IT), Business, Operations, Finance, Accounting, Data Science, or related field AND 8+ years supply chain, inventory management or sales operations experience, preferably in planning (demand/supply/forecasting), cloud industry experience, infrastructure, data science, and/or channel management experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Deep understanding of cloud network infrastructure and planning.
  • Knowledge or demonstrated experience in demand planning, capacity planning and system architecture.
  • Proven problem-solving skills, project management skills, attention to detail, and exceptional organizational skills
  • Proficient at creating and analyzing business information and defining key business results/metrics with a proficiency in data tools such as Excel, SQL and PowerBI.

Demand Planning IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,600 - $183,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $122,000 - $200,500 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Generate network hardware demand forecasts for a defined network tier that supports engineering requirements, business needs, sourcing specifications and the execution/deployment strategies. This HW includes switches, optics, cables etc.
  • Own the hardware demand plan and work with stakeholders to actively identify, communicate and mitigate the risks during budget or supply constraints situations. Work with various stakeholders for smooth product transitions (NPI), inventory management, Capex budget/spend management.
  • Lead cross functional planning initiatives to identify and define strategic initiatives to ensure hardware is not in the critical path for capacity
  • Explain drivers of month-over-month change, and corresponding financial impact.
  • Reporting/Data Analysis - Extract data from multiple systems (SQL/Kusto) and provide insights and visualizations. Create reports using Power BI. Strong data analysis skills are essential.
  • Continuously improve and simplify processes; contribute to defining next-generation planning processes and tools to scale Microsoft's cloud growth.
  • Develop comprehensive KPIs and metrics using data-driven approaches/modeling. Own the metrics for the defined business area and drive improvement actions.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity associated with working in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Technical aptitude with excellent visual and verbal communication skills with ability to influence business and technical decision makers.
