Overview

The Global Marketing Engines & Experiences (GME&E) team is seeking an Associate Creative Director - Art & Design to lead visual storytelling across Microsoft’s commercial marketing efforts. This role brings the Microsoft brand to life through bold, resonant creative that drives both emotional connection and business impact. As a key member of our integrated creative team, you will guide the visual expression of campaign work across social, digital, and emerging platforms — partnering closely with marketing, brand, product, and social leads to craft audience-first assets that support the full customer journey. From integrated campaigns to real-time activations, you will ensure that design quality, strategic relevance, and platform fluency are always front and center.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Certificate in Design, Art Direction, Marketing, Communications, or related field AND 4+ years experience in art direction, visual storytelling, or integrated campaign development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in design or art direction roles in B2B (business-to-business), technology, enterprise environments, or related environments.
  • 4+ years experience and portfolio showcasing campaign work, platform-specific design, and brand systems, or related experience.
  • 4+ years experience with Figma, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), and motion/3D tools.

Additional/Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of audience behavior across digital and social channels.
  • Experience managing or mentoring creatives, vendors, and production partners.
  • Communication, storytelling, and presentation skills.
  • Previous agency or in-house brand experience.

Art IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the art direction and visual development of integrated campaigns across social, digital, and emerging platforms.
  • Create compelling design systems, motion assets, photography, and content that support storytelling across the funnel.
  • Partner with copywriters, strategists, and marketing teams to align design with campaign objectives and audience needs.
  • Guide the creation and evolution of brand style guides, playbooks, and templates to ensure consistency and creative excellence.
  • Present and pitch design ideas to internal stakeholders with clarity and strategic insight.
  • Stay updated on trends, platform innovation, and audience behaviors to inform and inspire work.
  • Exhibit design innovation, including the application of AI tools and workflows to scale quality creative production.
  • Manage multiple projects and timelines while maintaining a standard of craft and leadership.
  • Collaborate across creative and production partners (internal and external) to ensure world-class execution.
