Overview
The TechSpark Community Engagement Manager in Princeton, NJ is a leadership role within Microsoft Philanthropies dedicated to community engagement and nonprofit partnerships, combined with technology-driven innovation. The role is embedded within the New Jersey AI Hub, a public-private partnership among the State of New Jersey, Princeton University, CoreWeave, Microsoft, and other partners working to establish New Jersey as a global leader in responsible AI innovation. This role is focused on ecosystem-building, cross-sector partnerships, and strategic program execution. It integrates deep community engagement with technical advisory, enabling nonprofits, startups, and educational institutions to harness advanced technologies for meaningful impact and workforce readiness in the AI era.
Microsoft’s TechSpark program engages in select communities to enhance the region’s local economic activity, create opportunities for everyone to participate in that growth, and to foster technology innovation. We do this by stewarding Microsoft’s resources into the community and fostering integral, trusted, influential partnerships with philanthropy, government, academics, business, and the community. In Princeton, New Jersey, we have established the New Jersey AI Hub in partnership with the State of New Jersey, Princeton University, and CoreWeave to serve as a center for innovation in artificial intelligence.
We are seeking an innovative professional to lead our community engagement and technology innovation efforts at the NJ AI Hub. This hybrid role will blend deep community engagement with technical advising, enabling nonprofits, startups, and community partners to harness advanced technologies for transformative impact.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years work experience in
community/economic development, nonprofit engagement, engineering or technical program management or related area- OR Master's Degree AND 3+ years work experience in
community/economic development, nonprofit engagement, engineering or technical program management, or related area- OR equivalent experience.
- OR Master's Degree AND 3+ years work experience in
- Experience leading partnerships involving multiple stakeholders (government, higher ed, employers, philanthropy) and understanding of New Jersey’s education, workforce, and innovation partners and ecosystems.
Additional/ Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical aptitude with knowledge of Microsoft products, AI technologies, and digital transformation will be considered an asset.
- Proven effectiveness driving multi-stakeholder planning processes and coalition building.
- Entrepreneurial spirit
Corporate Social Responsibility IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $105,800 - $204,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $136,200 - $223,300 per year.

Responsibilities
- Establish and nurture relationships with community leaders, academic institutions, nonprofit organizations, startups, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Design, manage, and execute initiatives that leverage technology and AI to address regional challenges, drive economic growth, and enhance digital inclusion.
- Collaborate closely with regional community colleges, nonprofits, and key stakeholders to strategically design and implement workforce development initiatives and technology skilling programs tailored to regional economic needs.
- Represent Microsoft as the local ambassador, attending and speaking at public forums, media events, and community gatherings to highlight Microsoft's commitment to technology-driven impact.
- Help manage the AI Hub’s “Powering the Workforce” pillar—responsible for supporting the state’s talent pipeline for AI and adjacent technologies.
- Provide expert technical consultation and mentorship to regional nonprofits, startups, and community organizations, helping them leverage AI and digital technologies for maximum impact.
- Conduct assessments of potential projects, advising on technical feasibility, scalability, and strategic alignment with Microsoft’s goals.
- Develop strategic communications to amplify the impact and successes of TechSpark initiatives in New Jersey.
- Develop pilot initiatives, identifying scalable models for replication across other TechSpark regions.
- Work collaboratively with internal Microsoft teams to align and execute integrated community initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with regional and global technologists, providing mentorship and strategic guidance to broaden technical capacity within TechSpark.
- Provide thought leadership, insight, and external perspective to help shape Microsoft’s broader business and technology strategies.
