We are seeking a market research professional with strong consultation, communication, analytics and project management skills to join our team. In this role you will work on a diverse portfolio of business challenges, contributing to Microsoft’s discipline of harnessing customer insight from social media. Success in this role looks like leveraging social media intelligence techniques to signal potential new business opportunities and to complement other traditional market research to tell a fuller, richer story. The social market research manager collaborates with other market researchers, works directly with marketing practitioners, and contributes to a system of Brand Insights on the Brand, Reputation, and Social team.

In this role you will need to have Curiosity and ability to identify new potential areas of investigation and discuss with team members to ensure it addresses specific needs; Ability to collaborate with a diverse group of team members, stakeholders, and research vendors; Fit the business issue to research methodology and have Strong communication skills to synthesize insights.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Social Sciences, Statistics, or related field OR 1+ year(s) experience in data science, research, marketing or business-related roles OR equivalent experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience in data science, research, marketing or business-related roles OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Social Sciences, Statistics, or related field AND 2+ years experience in data science, research, marketing or business-related roles OR Master's Degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Social Sciences, Statistics, or related field
  • 1+ year(s) project management experience.
  • General understanding of Boolean queries and natural language processing (NLP)
  • Broad understanding of social media platforms such as Sprinklr, Brandwatch, or Netbase Quid
  • Proficiency with productivity software (e.g., Microsoft 365/Office 365, Google Apps/Workspaces) and communication/collaboration platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Slack, Zoom, etc.); experience with any of these: analytics software (e.g., SPSS, R, SAS), or business intelligence tools (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
  • Basic understanding of social media content and channels and how they are used, such as Instagram, Facebook etc.

Market Research IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $68,300 - $137,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $93,200 - $151,200 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Microsoft marketers and researchers to deliver customer insights to influence key business strategies
  • Lead custom social research projects across a set of key businesses (e.g., Copilot, Windows, Teams, M365, etc.)
  • Support business and marketing strategies through social intelligence and analytics
  • Develop strategic perspectives that drive marketing and business decisions
  • Communicate insights, implications, and recommendations to key stakeholders to provide the organic voice-of-the-customer to support business decisions
  • Use business engagements to leverage innovative analytic techniques to bring best-in-class solutions to the team and practice
  • Partner with the broader community of Research + Insights research consultants to identify areas where social insights can act as a complement to or replacement of traditional research methodologies
  • Manage a platform strategy to broaden the identification of consumer and commercial audiences in social media channels, Identify and onboard new social media data sources to expand our ability to identify new audiences that help Microsoft understand such topics as product experience and customer journey
  • Contribute to a social query management system utilized by over 2800 Microsoft social marketers
