Overview

The Manual Touch Reduction (MTR) team is on a mission to transform how production systems are operated by minimizing human interventions and maximizing automation, safety, and reliability. We are hiring a Software Engineer II to build and scale telemetry-driven platforms like the Production Touch Dashboard (PTD) to identify, classify, and eliminate unsafe manual operations across Azure infrastructure. Our work directly reduces live-site risks, improves compliance, and enables secure, auditable, and repeatable diagnostics and mitigations through safety certified tools.

We partner across Azure engineering to onboard services, enforce safe operational patterns, and drive adoption of least-privilege access models. Our impact spans from reducing high-severity outages to operational excellence at scale. If you're passionate about building resilient systems, driving platform safety, and shaping the future of cloud operations, MTR is the place to be.

You'll work in a fast-paced environment on a project that has visibility to senior leadership in the company, tackling problems that require creativity and collaboration to achieve meaningful business outcomes. We continuously strive for world-class engineering and operational excellence and encourage you to influence our designs and architectural roadmap and drive specific goals around scalability and availability.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more.
