The Surface Team focuses on building devices that fully express the Windows vision. Creating these devices involves a close partnership between hardware and software engineers, designers, and manufacturing. The Surface Team is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help build the next generation of devices!
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work on the Imaging & Provisioning Team (ImProv) which is responsible for the customer-facing software applied to every Surface device and are part of the final say when devices are ready for customers to receive. You will have the opportunity to build software which will have high and visible impact that will enable our customers to be successful.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, PowerShell, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 3+ year of experience building reliable, distributed systems at scale.
- Experience with Solid Data Structures, Algorithm fundamentals.
- Experience with DevOps CI/CD concepts (Azure DevOps preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with hardware, device factory manufacturing, or high volume electronic products.
Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.

Responsibilities
- Work closely with program managers and other engineers to define feature specifications and identify issues our customers face.
Design scalable solutions, and drive toward timely delivery. - Mentor junior developers and help them grow.
- Analyze experiment metrics, debug, and suggest next steps.
- Implement functional tests, and live site monitors.
- Work on building an extensible framework that will allow hundreds of developers in the organization to contribute to building new diagnostics.
- Assist with the authoring and reviewing of design.
- Provide solid customer empathy and an ability to focus our engineering efforts on customer requirements.
