The Global Trade Organization, within the Risk Management, Trust and Safety (RTS) group of MBO is responsible for export controls and sanctions compliance for Microsoft’s products, services, and technology. The team owns and manages trade compliance processes, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations and provides trade subject matter expertise internally and externally.

As a Global Trade Governance Manager, you would be responsible for facilitating governance and identifying optimization opportunities by leveraging artificial intelligence and continuous improvement techniques, driving excellence in internal controls and our trade compliance program, managing coordination with Microsoft’s internal audit staff for trade matters, as appropriate, including providing responses to general audit requests and issue resolution, and coordinating with the trade leadership on ad-hoc trade compliance governance projects, as appropriate. Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Working understanding of risk management and internal control frameworks and a solid understanding of the concepts of control design and operational efficiency
  • Ability to work effectively across functional teams and stakeholders to drive for results and solve problems
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment, adept at managing multiple complex projects, excellent attention to detail, and ability to work effectively under deadlines
  • Ability to adapt and change with the needs of the organization and business
  • Highly motivated, strong attention to detail, team oriented, organized
  • Excellent written, verbal, and analytical skills
  • Capable of fostering an inclusive culture.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Law, or related field AND 2+ years of corporate, trade, or supply chain experience
  • Skilled in navigating ambiguity, thinking strategically, and delivering results in a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated use of business data to identify and quantify risks and prioritize remediation and mitigation

Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the role may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Drive governance of the sanctions and export compliance processes.
  • Drive process improvements to drive efficiency and process excellence by monitoring feedback and employing continuous improvement techniques and methodologies, including leveraging AI solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas of risk and recommend controls to mitigate those risks.
  • Support governance activities with systems & tool requirement & solutioning, training and communication
  • Identify and escalate issues which may not be addressed by current policies or standards and support the development and implementation of possible solutions.
  • Identify gaps in compliance and implement corrective actions as needed to address those gaps.
  • Support management reporting, including operational metrics and data risk signals.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams and partners to support management of the trade compliance program across the company.
  • Coordinate with Trade leadership on ad-hoc trade compliance projects, as appropriate.
