Overview

We are developing a planet-scale, multi-modal database system from the ground up, redefining how developers engage with data and artificial intelligence in the era of large language models. As a Principal UX Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the architecture, design, and development of modern, responsive, and intelligent user interfaces that present the core capabilities of our platform to users across a wide range of domains.

This role emphasizes thoughtful engineering and high-quality delivery over superficial design trends. You'll work closely with backend engineers and AI infrastructure teams to create fast, accessible, and extensible UI components, systems, and flows.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field AND 6+ years of experience building production-grade front-end systems.
  • Expert-level proficiency in React and JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Hands-on experience building component libraries or contributing to design systems (e.g., Fluent UI, Material UI, or similar).
  • Strong command of accessibility (a11y), responsiveness, and front-end performance best practices.
  • Proven ability to deliver stable and scalable UIs in fast-paced product environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in UI/UX engineering or front-end systems design.
  • Experience building user interfaces for developer tools, AI/ML platforms, or large-scale enterprise applications.
  • Familiarity with distributed systems concepts, data-intensive workflows, or AI/LLM-powered user experiences.
  • Ability to reason about complex application state and asynchronous workflows.
  • Experience with TypeScript at scale and large front-end monorepos

Responsibilities

  • Lead front-end architecture: Design and implement modular, performant UI systems using React and Fluent UI.
  • Own critical user flows: Translate complex system capabilities into intuitive, elegant user interactions and responsive layouts.
  • Engineer for performance and scale: Optimize UI rendering, manage application state effectively, and ensure high responsiveness across large data sets and dynamic views.
  • Set quality standards: Establish and uphold code quality, accessibility, and usability guidelines for the front-end codebase.
  • Collaborate across disciplines: Work closely with backend, systems, and platform engineers to integrate UI with AI and data infrastructure.
  • Mentor and lead by example: Provide technical direction and mentorship to other engineers, fostering a strong front-end culture
