The Strategy & Business Planning team drives strategic growth initiatives for Microsoft’s Consumer Search, Ads, News, and Browser business. We’re a fast-growing organization operating in some of the largest markets, with a total addressable market (TAM) of over $1T. Skills you’ll develop or hone in this role: Strategic thinking, quantitative modeling, analytical rigor, marketing attribution, business case development, executive communication, presenting to executive leaders, and cross-functional collaboration.
As a Business Planner, Strategy and Business Planning, you will be directly involved in shaping long-term strategy and direction to grow user engagement and monetization. You’ll develop recommendations and lead conversations with partners across the company. You’ll work closely with product management, marketing, engineering, finance, and GTM to frame strategic discussions and deliver data-driven recommendations on product strategy, business models, and portfolio investments across Search, Ads, News and Browser businesses.
We’re seeking someone who is passionate about consumer products and businesses, has an analytical background, and can drive decisions and recommendations while working with virtual teams. We tackle complex business problems, develop executable strategic plans, use data to inform insights and recommendations, and drive action across teams. Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years product management, strategy consulting, business planning, product marketing, product management, corporate strategy or related experience
- OR equivalent experience.
Experience framing and structuring ambiguous problems in actionable insights.
Experience identifying new business opportunities and driving organizational change.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience AND Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Computer Science, Economics, Business, or related field
- OR 3+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience AND Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA), or related field
- OR equivalent experience
- Solid leadership, collaboration, and communication skills to generate support and buy-in across v-teams and partner groups.
- Interest in technology and a fast-paced work environment.
- Solid understanding of various business models and internet consumer behavior is a plus.
- MBA or equivalent preferred.
Business Planning IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $85,100 - $169,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $112,000 - $185,300 per year.

Responsibilities
- Identify, size, and frame emerging disruptions and strategic growth opportunities, recommending the right path forward for Microsoft.
- Build business cases to influence investment decisions, third-party partnerships, strategic deals, and product and marketing strategies. Synthesize details into compelling narratives and present them to stakeholders at various levels.
- Lead ongoing primary research to understand trends and use cases, in partnership with product and research teams.
- Drive end-to-end analysis of Browser and Search user behavior, identifying trends, friction points, and opportunities for monetization.
- Develop and implement data-driven strategies to enhance adoption, engagement, and retention.
- Define and track key success metrics, ensuring alignment with business goals and cross-functional partners.
- Support business planners and partners with marketing, product, and data teams to prioritize and execute high-impact initiatives.
- Understand marketing impact and help attribute to an initiative for strategy optimization recommendations.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders across marketing, engineering, finance, and data science.
