Microsoft Silicon Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) is the team behind Microsoft’s expanding Cloud Infrastructure and responsible for powering Microsoft’s “Intelligent Cloud” mission. SCHIE delivers the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Skype, OneDrive and the Microsoft Azure platform globally with our server and data center infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability solutions. As Microsoft's cloud business continues to grow the ability to deploy new offerings and HW infrastructure on time, in high volume with high quality and lowest cost is of paramount importance. To achieve this goal, the Cloud Hardware Manufacturing Engineering (CHME) team is instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of success for hardware manufacturing, improving the planning process, quality, delivery, scale and sustainability related to Microsoft cloud hardware. We are looking for a High Performance Compute Director with a passion for customer focused solutions, insight and industry knowledge to envision and implement future technical solutions that will manage and optimize the Cloud infrastructure.

Required/Minimum Qualifications:
- - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Data Science, Cybersecurity, or related field AND 6+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, systems engineering, or industrial controls
- OR equivalent experience.
- Experience in a leadership role within the HPC domain
- Understanding of High-Performance Computing (HPC) Infrastructure and services critical to EDA tool simulation.
- Oral and written communication skills with a proven ability to present complex technical information to leadership.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications:
- - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Data Science, Cybersecurity, or related field AND 12+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, systems engineering, or industrial controls
- OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Data Science, Cybersecurity, or related field AND 8+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, systems engineering, or industrial controls
- OR equivalent experience.
- 5+ years technical experience working with large-scale cloud or distributed systems.
- 5+ years people management experience.
- Experience with HPC services management and enterprise application integration.
- Experience with one or more programming or query languages (Powershell, C#, Python, Java, JavaScript, Kusto, SQL).
- Certification in one or more of the following technologies: Microsoft Azure Solution Architect, Microsoft Azure Administrator, Google Professional Cloud Architect, Google Associate Cloud Engineer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, AWS Certified Solutions Architecture Associate, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Associate.
Service Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.

Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a global team of HPC professionals, ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions, roadmap execution, and robust support.
- Develop and implement strategic plans for HPC services, encompassing design, implementation, maintenance, and adaptation processes.
- Conduct regular evaluations of HPC infrastructure technologies and software solutions to maximize engineering productivity and efficiency.
- Continuously focus on technology improvement, optimization, and process enhancement to increase overall effectiveness.
- Consult and collaborate with CAD and Design teams to develop custom solutions, enhance existing capabilities, and drive operational excellence.
