Overview
The Front End Infrastructure and Developer Experience (devX) team comprises a dedicated group of senior engineers focused on developing and maintaining the world's largest security web application. We provide support to over 500 engineers within the Microsoft security organization, as well as millions of leading security engineers globally who rely on our services. Our mission is to build an engineering platform that delivers an exceptional developer experience, empowering our engineers to create the highest quality user experiences for our customers.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 6+ years of experience in frontend web development, building modern, scalable, and performant applications
- Proven experience as a technical leader, driving architecture, code quality, and cross-team collaboration
- Hands-on experience with frontend infrastructure: build tooling, CI/CD, devops pipelines, and performance monitoring
- Deep knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript, browser internals, and at least one major framework (e.g. React)
- Experience working in large-scale, distributed environments and designing systems for scale and reliability
- Strong understanding of JavaScript fundamentals (e.g. inheritance, scope, closures) and DOM architecture
Preferred:
- Experience building and maintaining component libraries or design systems (e.g. based on Fluent UI or similar)
- Familiarity with tools such as Webpack, Playwright, Azure DevOps, Storybook, or similar
- Passion for developer experience, accessibility, and performance best practices
Responsibilities
- Lead UX architecture and define best practices, cultural standards, and engineering guidelines
- Develop and maintain the end-to-end engineering platform, including development workflows, CI/CD, test automation, and production deployments using tools such as Webpack, Playwright, and Azure DevOps
- Build and support our core JavaScript/TypeScript runtime libraries
- Oversee development of our component library based on Microsoft Fluent
- Mentor junior engineers and support their technical and professional growth
