Overview
We are looking for a Software Engineer II with established C++ skills to join our team focused on low-level software development. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy working close to the metal—whether that’s in runtime systems, libraries, or performance-critical components—but who also bring a generalist mindset and are open to contributing across the stack. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable, and efficient software solutions that power key platform capabilities.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 2+ years of professional experience coding in C++
- 2+ years of distributed systems OR multithreaded development experience
Other Requirements:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 4+ years of professional experience with coding in C++
- 4+ years of distributed systems OR multithreaded development experience
- Experience with systems programming concepts such as threading, synchronization, or memory allocation.
- Familiarity with modern C++ standards (C++11 and beyond).
- Exposure to additional languages such as C#, Python, or Rust.
- Experience working in large codebases and with version control systems like Git.
- Contributions to open-source projects or technical communities.
- Familiarity with continuous integration/deployment pipelines and test automation frameworks.

Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain C++ components in performance-sensitive environments.
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, and other engineers to define and deliver features.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Debug complex issues across multiple layers of the stack.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering practices and tools.
- Engage in the full software development lifecycle, from planning to deployment and support.
