Overview

The Windows Widgets and Web Experiences Team is looking for a Senior Product Manager to deliver delightful experiences for our users, which also boosts our business.

Our team is on a mission to help users stay on top of what matters most across their whole life, with rich content across Windows that drives engagement and monetization for Windows and its partners. Today we do that though a combination of widgets, feeds, and high-quality location information, but tomorrow rich content and location information could be integrated into Windows in different and new ways. As a member of the team, you would help define these new experiences in addition to helping improve our existing ones.


As a Senior Product Manager, you will need to balance managing our in-market products alongside managing the development of new products to meet our long-term product vision and roadmap. You will work with internal/external partner teams, product management, architects, developers, data scientists, quality assurance, and user experience teams to align objectives, create functional specifications, implement a plan, and ultimately deliver high-quality, compelling customer products. Expectations include effective written and oral communication skills, cross-functional project management capabilities, and experience with complex large-scale products. You will also need to influence others to drive business impact across the organization, and track success criteria for multiple feature areas across divisions. You should have experience identifying long-term investment opportunities and engaging partners’ support to deliver on those investments.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 5+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 2+ years experience working on products with client and service integration.

Other Requirements:


Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements that are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 7+ years of experience in product/service/project/program management or software development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience working on user-facing products.

Product Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Determines the features or experiences to prioritize in the roadmap that will support achievement of success criteria and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
  • Builds experiences across multiple feature areas (e.g., product, service) across divisional boundaries while collaborating with others (e.g., Software Engineering [SWE], Hardware Engineering [HWE], Product Marketing, Design, Product Marketing, Business Planning, etc.) to ensure that features satisfy customer requirements, product release criteria, user acquisition or retention goals, usage goals, and monetization strategies.
  • Influences and engages with cross-functional internal partners, external partners, including early adopting customers, senior leadership, and other key stakeholders to gather input and garner support for product/service vision, strategy, and roadmap for multiple feature areas; while helping define and influence the long-term vision and strategy for the feature areas based on a deep understanding of customer needs, market and user research, the competitive landscape, and Microsoft’s business goals and strategy.
  • Owns the roadmap and prioritizes the feature backlog for assigned feature areas (e.g., product, service), working with others to align on tradeoffs to maximize impact of investments.
  • Shares feature previews or roadmap with customers to drive engagement and to gather feedback and customer telemetry in conjunction with others (e.g., Business Development, Sales, End Consumers, User Research).
  • Partners with others (e.g., Data Science, Software Engineering [SWE], Hardware Engineering [HWE], User Research) to define and collect performance metrics (e.g., key performance indicators [KPIs] such as engagement, usage, acquisition, revenue, and in-project features), monitor and report on progress (e.g., business reviews), and derive deep insights and drives productive courses of action to improve product/feature development, iteration, and implementation.
  • Leverages customer listening systems, telemetry, engagements (e.g., interviews, surveys), etc., to develop insights on product performance and customer needs.
